beginning to look at CAI's. I have removed the hood insulation, should there be any adjustments to accommodate the little bit of extra room?

Thanks

With the JLT (And I suspect all open-top intakes) it will have enough of a gap to drive up intake temps some, even when at speed on the road.

Would it be beneficial to maybe shim up the box 1/4" to a 1/2" for a better seal?

I think the better option is to cut that front corner section of the liner and put it back in place. There are sufficient pins to hold it in place (there are 4 or 5 just for that corner) and it will seal as well as designed.

Raising the box probably wouldn't be a good idea as you really don't want it pressing against the bare metal of the hood; that's just asking for dents/bends.

The other option is to just go Airaid; that's what I've done in the interim and put the JLT on the shelf until I decide what I want as a permanent solution.

The Steeda CAI seals against the hood:

http://www.steeda.com/steeda-proflow-mustang-cold-air-intake-tune-required-2015-gt-555-3194/

Our engineers started with a large surface area high-flow nano-fiber air filter, added our famous “race-tested” velocity stack entry and then designed a black powder-coated heat shield with a durable rubber gasket to seal the shield against the vehicle’s hood
Good to go out-of-the box!

Let me know if I can help answer any questions that you may have ... you can read more about our CAIs here:

Best Regards,
