I've heard that MMR has some issues with their mounting hardware rusting, but that's easily fixable with replacement bolts. I've not heard many recommend MMR here over MAP.

I love that MMR does powder coating to match the car color, but I've been hesitant to go with their product over the MAP due to recommendations from others.

EDIT: Actually, apparently MMR addressed the rusting issues a while back, by switching to stainless steel mounting hardware.

It's just a tube.. buy the one you think looks better or fits your budget.. I got the MMR because it was on sale, I think it looks cool and sounds great, prior to that I had planned on getting a MAP cai but I'm not crazy about that logo weld thingy.. I think that's an eye sore.

That being said, if I were still in the market for a CAI, I'd probably go JLT or something similar Lol.

Does anyone have a concrete reason as to why they recommend staying away from the MMR, though? As AR306 said, it's just a tube with a filter. Can the MAP be that much better than the MMR?

We figured we would chime in as there are facts and then internet opinions.

1. The MMR hardware does not rust, it was replaced with stainless steel hardware years ago.

2. The other kit mentioned uses a 3.0" Tube, the MMR uses a 3.5" tube, lets not forget, an air intake is about additional flow, on a flow bench the 3.5" tube outflows the 3.0" by ALOT!

3. The MMR kit is one of the best selling kits available because it is 100% USA hand made, uses a Genuine K&N filter and is the best sounding intake available. Lastly, take a look at our 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK on ebay where we have sold a large amount >

Lastly, thank you to all of the members here that have purchased them, we appreciate your business!

I'm also thinking of getting a CAI for my Eco, but my concern is in reading about products it states on many mfgs website that these are not legal in Calif or states using the Calif emissions regs. What happens when you take your car in for inspection? anyone ever have an issue?
update, just checked out the Airaid CAI and the dry filter ones are 50 state street legal, so this answers one of my questions

I have the MAP intake on mine and I love it. Looks good, sounds great, well made gear. As far as smog goes, keep the stock intake and put it on in 4 years when the first smog check is due. Then put the other one back on and repeat every 2 years.
