Finally, I just got informed by BBB that ford settled with replacement vehicle. (my car has been in the shop for 2.5 months for ticking and tapping).
I have some questions for the people who went through this.

1. my car hasn't evaluated yet, I have an x-pipe on it and pp-wheels.
I sold my base wheels when I got the pp wheels. I know, you lose all the aftermarket stuff. So, if I decide to leave the pp-wheels on it, do they charge me for that? or do they accept it as is without additional fees? I am not looking for additional money for the stuff on it but just wondering do we get charged for not having the stock stuff on it?
same applies for the x-pipe. I am gonna put the resonator back but, do they charge for the stuff it is not as good as stock?

2. My insurance rate is quite high with this car since I just moved in to USA. The car was out of service for almost 2.5 months now, and I hear buyback takes around 2-3 months. thats too much insurance money for a car that I am not driving. Do I get compensation for this? Also I end up not not driving a car I paid and paying for for 3-6 months. Any reimbursement for this stuff?

3. I took my car at 1603 miles to the dealer and did my first complaint at that time. They haven t done much at that time and I just picked my car. I have the official service report that includes this first complaint at 1603 miles about the ticking. So, does the milage fee should be calculated according to 1603miles instead of the current mileage?

4. The dealer offered me to select the car that I want to buy. He is gonna order/bring it. Once the car is here I will have the new car as loaner till buyback paper work finishes. I am totally okay with this but I am just wondering is there any tricks here?

5. Am I gonna be on loaner or rental if I dont get this deal?

6. Do I get any rebates incase of buying a higher msrp car? I know one of the guy here got $5000 more MSRP car and ended up paying $3k for it. I would kill for such a deal. I just wanna know how that happened? I tried but couldnt find that post.

7. I prefer to drive my car (if they ever put the engine together again) till the buyback resolves. so, incase they fix it, do I get to drive my car till I get the replacement vehicle?

8. Any tips to make things faster?

I asked these questions to dealer and they said they dont know anything. And I havent heard anything from Ford yet. Sorry for too many questions. I am just impatient at this point.

Thanks a lot

1) cannot answer - as my 2016 Buy Back was stock. However, Ford RAV does make the Dealership do a full exterior and interior inspection. Any blemishes found based on a certain size/criteria the owner IS responsible for the cost to fix or repair any such issues. This must be settled at time of picking up replacement vehicle and signing all docs between old and new vehicle.

2) If the existing vehicle was or is financed - you have to continue to maintain the loan and associated auto insurance. If you don’t pay on the note (or insurance), it not only affects your credit, but any $ not paid on the note is due when the Buy Back deal commmeces and before you can take ownership of the next vehicle IF getting another Ford.

3) You have to review your State Lemon Laws, as any fees owed and mileage penalties are based on your State Laws. Ford does not deviate from State Lemon Laws. In some states there is no mileage penalty based on XYZ factors, while in other states the owner has to pay. If your State is one where a penalty is due, it should be based on the miles documented as of the first compliant, not current accrued miles. The dollar value per mile is based again on your State Lemon Laws.

4) The Dealership cannot make any such deal to let you take and drive the replacement car. Ford RAV runs the show and will not allow that replacement vehicle to be moved from the Dealership lot until ALL paperwork has been completed, any outstanding fees and or money owed on existing Lemon or any due on replacement has been settled in full, period. If the Dealer told you that, they don’t know what they are taking about and it won’t happen, Ford RAV won’t allow it.

5) If for whatever reasons you cannot complete a Buy Back transaction - you will either then have to let Ford fix and return your existing vehicle OR come up with another plan on how to proceed.

6) No, a Ford Buy Back does not entitle you to ANY rebates, discounts, XYZ Ford plans, incentives, or any other “deals. It is strictly MSRP value to MSRP value, period. If the replacement vehicle MSRP is more money than your original, yes you are responsible for the difference in either paying cash OR having that delta rolled into the new loan. Ford MIGHT work with you, but it’s NOT a guarantee at all. Some folks have been able to get Ford to help with a small delta, but not many. Ford is not obligated to cover that difference at all, not by their protocols and not by ANY State Lemon Laws.

7) If your vehicle is repaired and returned during the course of negotiations and while waiting for the replacement - yes you can drive it, you’re still the owner and still responsible for that vehicle until it’s out of your ownership. If you opt to not drive it, then you will be responsible for your own mode of transportation. Again you are also still obligated financially as well to that current vehicle, regardless if it is sitting at a shop or you’re driving it.

8) No. It’s a tedious process that can take anywhere from 4-12+ weeks, depending on how fast RAV moves, what your current financial situation is with your car, where the next car is coming from, paperwork reviews, etc....

Just search my user ID - I’ve supplied a TON of RAV, Buy Back and Lemon responses and help in this very forum... you’ll find much more details and probably more answers to other questions you may have about the process.

You will need lots of patience....
