Hey guys and girls,
I have a question about my problem with the Ecoboost. Maybe that's ok but I need to ask.
So my problem is next - I have pretty stinky burning smell inside the car when I'm driving it. Mostly it starts when I go more than 3000 RPM with pretty fast acceleration. Smells like sour exhaust gases or oil burning but it really shitty and driving me crazy. The same smell I have under the hood after long run. I spoke with the service Ford service engineer and he told me that they have no issues with the exhaust or something else leaking reported. So maybe I just carp but I didn't have something like this on my previous cars.
Do you guys have any guesses?

Is your car a manual transmission?

These cars do burn oil from the factory, have a quick read through the "blue smoke" thread. When you do a downpipe it no longer mask the factory oil burning and it is more evident, but only on some cars.

If you haven't yet, make sure you change the oil asap. Rotella T6 with a Wix oil filter is what I recommend.

I changed the Oil on 2900 at the dealership. I kept my eyes on the Smoke thread so you think if I will modify the system it will help to avoid this smell?

You will want to use a different oil than what the dealership is putting in. Change it yourself, I know the dealership was free but they just put back in the same junk.

I think they put Motorcraft 5W-30. That what bill said.
It means I was wrong when I bought additional service from Ford with the car purchase.

The smell can be oil, can be the cat breaking in, can be the muffler packing breaking in, it could even be the heat shields burning assembly oils off it.

Do you have any guesses how can I find out the reason?

Nope, run it until it smells again and try to get under the car and smell where it is coming from. Smell your exhaust tips, smell your engine bay, smell under the car.

How many miles on the EB? Likely just burning off shop oil from production that was left on heat shield as mentioned previously. If you have less then 5000 miles I'd bet money on it.

If it smells sour like you said it's probably the cat. I've smelled it once while my car was warming up in the morning. It's not a pleasant smell and doesn't smell like oil burning at all.

I've noticed a funky smell when I pass people on the backroads, going from 1800 to WOT shifting into S and rapidly approaching what would get me hauled off then coasting and going back into D, while the TCM slowly shifts down. It's hard to remember exactly what it smells like but I will try to document it next time I get the chance.
