The front fascia seems unusually prone to chips and scratches from general road crap. Either I've been particularly unlucky with this car, or there's an issue with it. 8000 miles and I can clearly see 10+ small chips, and one largish one that I had to touch-up paint over (and still looks like shit).

What says the forum?

I also have DIB. I drive 120mi/day during the week. I have quite a lot of small chips, 1 larger one and one area where a large object gave it some serious rash. I used Dr Colorchip and it took care of the smaller ones quite well, and did a decent job restoring the rash. You cant tell unless you are 1-2 ft away.

I do feel that the paint is prone to chips, but I also have an atypical commute. (NJ Turnpike).

I should add that 1-2ft distance is for the rash. For the small chips you'd have to press your face up in it to tell.

Thin shitty paint is the problem.

Cars are gonna get chips and dings, especially if they're your daily drivers and you have any sizeable commute... but the paint they use now chips very easily.

All of the above. I recently had the front end of my wife's S550 wrapped after just 200 miles of driving and getting two nasty chips. In talking with the guys that did the film, they said the same as above. With the EPA cracking down and production times...paint is thinner than ever and not the same. I was talking to them about this and they actually said that Ford is one of the better paints. They went on to say that GM and even many of the high end cars like Audi and BMW that they have worked on have terrible paints as well. go figure...

My advice, get Dr. Colorchip or get the front surfaces wrapped.

:amen: Such a disappointment. My first ever brand new car, less than 8k and I do not tailgate. I'm originally from the NorthEast but they got nothing on the dust and flying pebbles of these TX roads. And a $40k car should have better paint than this. Its like spraypaint from a can on an unprepared surface.
