Buckle in the trunk

i am a rookie owner of a 2016 GT convertible. Got it two weeks ago and loving every min! I have noticed a buckle in the trunk, any one know what it is ? Please see attached pics. Thanks.

I bought the car used from a Ford dealership a month ago. I have no clue what option was available. Would you mind elaborating on what it is? I guess my worry was that this buckle was supposed to attach to something rather than hanging there loosely. Thanks.

That’s not a Ford stock item. The previous owner must have had something that they strapped to it.

No it is factory. It is part of the tension system for the top. All Mustang convertibles have that "buckle" and strap.

Pretty sure it is for holding down bodies.....or live ones depending....
