I really enjoy my Breitling's, and the quality is top notch in my opinion. My next purchase will likely be another Breitling, just unsure of the model, but possibly a Navitimer. If I ever do purchase a Rolex, I would probably have to stay in the price range of a new AirKing. I really like they look of that particular watch.

Don't they all? A lot of folks do not understand the service cost of "luxury" watches. I've never serviced any of my Seiko 7S36's or ETA 2824's. Omega's and Breitling's, Oy!!!
It depends on what you consider a lot of money for service. I think Rolex has very reasonably priced service costs for something that is made completely in-house. It also depends on what is being replaced. I think the average service for Rolex is a little under or over $1k, depending on condition and complications.

I don’t think AP sells parts to independent jewelers, so they really have you by the balls, but I don’t think anyone paying over $25k for an entry level AP is concerned about it.

Same here. Navtimer is probably out of my range for a while. I’m not a huge Rolex fan (I know how to make decisions on style and I’m not a rapper...but I digress) but I do like the AirKing offerings a lot. Other than that, there’s another Bremont I want as well as any similar style watch from IWC; which is high on my list.

I received a Marathon TSAR watch and like it a lot. Also like my Luminox ANU. Sold all my higher end Tags and kept my Formula 1.
These are my favorites.

They are..but heavy.
Not to worry, they make a lightweight one in Titanium

DESCRIPTION
The OMEGA Speedmaster is one of OMEGA’s most iconic timepieces. Having been a part of all six lunar missions, the legendary Speedmaster is an impressive representation of the brand’s adventurous pioneering spirit.
This model features a lacquered blue dial graced by a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph recorder on the sub-dial at 3 o’clock. There is a central chronograph seconds hand and a date window at the 6 o’clock position. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protects this bold dial. The polished blue ceramic bezel, with its tachymetric scale, is mounted on a 44.25 mm titanium and presented on a titanium bracelet. At the heart of this timepiece is the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300, the first chronograph in the brand’s family of in-house Co-Axial mechanical movements.

And expensive. I'd have a GT350 before I'd spend that money on a watch. I used to think differently, but now I can't seem to justify or see much value in most watches over $1K.

Plenty of good watches under 1k. And use the same movements. No need to pay for a name . . . .

@Horseplay Great watch and marvelous job on the photos brotha. Not my personal favorite piece, having said that however....that watch is like the 1911 of handguns in that it’s a “must have” to satisfy any man card requirements, LOL.

Funny this thread resurfaced today as I no kidding just picked up another Bremont. Got here yesterday. Bremont’s HMAF series and their tribute to the original dirty dozen...

(That bottom pic isn’t a store pic, but my attempt at a cool photo, LOL...watches sitting atop my leather bound Bremont Adventurers Journal ;-)

While I agree there are many great watches under 1K it really depends on the movement and the name. A ETA 2824 in a sub 1K watch is not the same as one in an Omega or Breitling. Whether or not it is significantly better is a discussion best left up to the buyer. Also there is more to a watch than just the movement. Much like there is more to a car than just an engine. Lastly luxury watch brands are not a need they are a want. No one needs a Rolex but just try getting a Submariner SS for anywhere near MSRP.

Now I have a few higher end watches, not super expensive but more than most people will pay. I also appreciate a good value. This is why I now have four Steinhart watches. All under $600 and made in Switzerland. It is a small boutique brand out of Germany. Check them out. Really nice stuff.
