Debating whether I should do stage 2 blower cams with my whipple setup or not. I'm pushing the whipple as hard as I can, and want a little more power. Think cams will give me any real world decent gains?

anytime you can get the air out quicker, it will allow for more power

when we did ours ,we added heads and an engine at the same time, but i know n/a we pushed one to over 525 rwhp.

should provide 30-40 rwhp, plus more power with less boost

Thanks terry!

What do you mean by more power with less boost? I'm tearing my motor apart to find a slight knock, and now would be ideal time for me to put cams in. Just really soul searching if its worth the $$

When I installed cam in last car I dropped about 2-3# of boost due to better air flow and then less cylinder pressure and had about same HP with less boost. Changes pulley to get back the boost and then had about 50 more RWHP.

Waste of money. You'll get crappier gas mileage, car's manners in part-throttle, off-idle scenarios will degrade and the exhaust will stink. You'll spend thousands of dollars and be lucky to gain 20-30hp.

I speak from experience! I've been there, wasted my money and time and won't do it again.

If you want more power, spend the money on a pulley change and some race gas. You'll get a lot more bang for your dollar.

You think race gas will help over E-85? I have 3.0 10 rib pulley with 20% ATI OD on my whipple.

I'm making low 900rwhp depending on dyno (been to 4 in area).

I'm in a convertible so I know I'm a few hundred lbs heavier than a coupe, and also I'm a manual, but I trap mid 130's when I can get a decent run in the 1/4. People with 700wheel are trapping that.

So I have a bunch of things I'm trying to work through. One of them I'm trying to make 1000 wheel. Once I accomplish that just want to practice practice practice and try to hit 9's in the 1/4.

870 rwhp, even weighing 4500lbs, should be good for 140mph traps and mid-high 9s. You have more than enough power to achieve your goal. More power will only make driving the car and hooking harder.

You need to focus on your driving technique. Making a stick car run 9s will take a lot of practice and power shifting. You'll need to cut 1.5 or lower 60s too.

If you can afford it, might consider going automatic. It's softer on the drive train and will out-shift the majority of humans out there and do so consistently.

Agree I had nothing but issues after cam installed but it did sound good.
