The only other cammed car I've ever had was my 08 z06 so I'm looking at comp stage 3 max effort cams, however If I want to add boost down the road when the boostworks single turbo kit comes out in 2-3 months are the N/A cams going to hurt me in a big way? What if I do blower cams now? Will they hurt me in the short term before I add boost? It seems the blower cams have higher lift and tuned for more rpm so I'm not sure why it would be bad on a high revving gt350 setup?

What are the differences between comp max effort n/a cams and blower cams?

Biggest reason I'm doing cams now is because I'm doing opg/tg and they cross labor time so it would be best to do cams now.

N/A cams tend to bleed boost because the valves are open so long. So yes, they will hurt you.

This is funny, I was searching all over for these answers yesterday.

I've seen answers for LS motors and older mod motors. No real data though.

The general census was bleeding boost, but you'll still make more stage 2/3 n/a cams vs stock. These older engines play by different rules though, since the valve timing is fixed, whereas our cars are variable.

comparing aftermarket single ohv cams to a dohc cams makes zero sense. bleeding boost? ummm a good tuner with half a brain should be able to use the coyote variable intake and exhaust phasing to minimize that.

Speaking of this seems to be why "most" people skip cams when going FI.

Look at the "ghost cam" tunes for example simply cannot get that kind of cam control with a single cam OHV or ls engine......

that being said if people are doing the opg and cam sprocket upgraded id consider putting cams in at the same time considering once engines open that much doesnt take much more to add a set of cams.

thats exactly what im debating with a paxton install is going the 1 step further and doing cams when the paxton and opg and cam sproket upgrades are done.

if you plan on adding a blower, then just add the stage 1 or stage 2 blower cams and call it a day, they will work on an n/a car as well

lund just picked up some nice gains a little over a month ago on the comp blower cams on an n/a setup that a guy put in with the same plans

we have the stage 1 and stage 2 in stock.

pick based off your rpms you plan on running,

The difference between the cams is the lobe center separation. The boosted cams have a higher separation than normal to avoid overlapping.

beefcake I shot you an email Terry for a quote on parts, but lund got back to me and said I need a bap, but I need a fuel system good for 900 rwhp on e85 as well, and I don't want to spend money on parts twice so I'll probably do fuel system at the same time. Only reason I'm doing cams is because opg/tg as I prepare for boost, but I want to knock cams out while it's apart and if i need more fuel to run cams I may as well get the fuel system and id1050x as well.

If you know you are going boost just get the blower cams now.

Are you going to use stock pistons and rods on the boosted and cam setup?

Old thread but I have comp blower cams on my na set up and I think I am down on power.

I have now thought about going turbo instead of blower and I am going to pull out my blower cams and change them out.
