Labor time - cam swap vs pulling heads

Hey all,

I have a GT350R but I figured the labor is largely the same hours-wise as 5.0s and I figured the audience is larger here, so I'm asking in the 5.0 forum.

• Curious how many hours cam swaps take?
• Also curious how many more hours would be involved to pull/re-install both cylinder heads ?

Just did a cam job and it was about 4.5hrs to complete. I wanted the shop to also do pistons / rods etc while they were 'in there' but the job wouldve doubled in cost as it was more labor intense getting to the pistons and rods

Wow.... Book time on this job is 11.7 hours (8.2 warranty). If they did it in 4.5, they are superstars. If they only charged you for 4.5, they are fools.

Book time is 11.7 for the cams or 20.7 to remove and replace the heads. I checked labor on the 5.2 and it was exactly the same.

Wow.... Book time on this job is 11.7 hours (8.2 warranty). If they did it in 4.5, they are superstars. If they only charged you for 4.5, they are fools.

At 150/hr labor rate I think I'm the fool

I can do heads on the coyote in out and running in 8 if I have everything there
