I have actually driven both types in a 17 stang. In my 17 stang without Bliss I really missed the feature as our FLEX had it. Many times I was like damn I really like that feature. The small blind spot mirrors do work good I will admit but that little dot is pretty easy to look at plus it gives you more total mirror real estate which I like.

Needed definitely not. Do I love having it ? Yes

BLISS was part of the package I ordered so I didn't give it much thought at the time. Fast forward over a year later and I'm driving in uptown Dallas in the early morning hours (pitch black darkness), it's pouring rain, and there's way more traffic than there should be. I see cones ahead so my lane is ending and I put on my right turn signal & check over my shoulder.... and can't see squat. Between the blindspot due to the ragtop roof (not an issue in daylight), the side mirror coated with raindrops, and the continued pouring of rain I honestly could not tell if there was a car next to me or not.

BLISS told me there was. I slowed, and sure enough some genius was cruising in my blind spot even with my turn signal on. I let him by and safely changed lanes before mine ended. From that day on my previous "indifference" to BLISS was replaced with a feeling of added confidence for having it.

Hope this helps.

I bought my car used. If I had bought it new I'd have not opted for it. Now that I have it I'll never buy a car without it.

I have BLIS. I love it. I didnt have it on my ecoboost. I loved having the blind spot mirrors on the ecoboost and i miss them. if ford would make the blis mirrors rotate downwards when you put the car in reverse i would be 100% for BLIS. CMON FORD THIS IS SIMPLE STUFF!!!! I CANT SEE MY TIRES!!!!

I have it and don't really use it, so used to checking blind spots the old fashioned way but the cross traffic warning is helpful.

Cross Traffic Alert is helpful backing out of parking spaces next to tall vehicles. I have no use for BLIS since my mirrors are adjusted right and have memories for the two drivers.

My mirrors are adjusted properly, but BLIS still helped me out more than once.

Throw some tint on your windows or drive in dark and rainy conditions and even having your mirrors adjusted properly won't allow you to see everything as quickly as the bliss does. I don't rely on it, but it's a nice feature that gives you one more level of awareness for unruly conditions.

Cross traffic alert itself is invaluable. IMHO, this should be standard on all cars.

I realized when I made my post I might be confusing the rear sensors with blis, thinking they were combined.

If blis is just the light in the mirror I could possibly live without it but it's nice. The rear sensing traffic and pedestrian alert is what I wouldn't be without.

Are they the same package?

Thanks for all the input, I've added it to my order. Ultimately I'd rather have it and not need it than not have it and wish I did.

I've driven Mustang's without it and with it and when we were shopping for our Mustang BLIS was on the "must have" list for us. Going forward I will get it on every car I buy, assuming it's available, of course.

Great tool to have. Won't be without it on any new car I might buy.

I've never felt like the car has small mirrors or large blind spots in the past 18 months I've owned it. Blind spot monitoring, lane departure, auto braking, etc... are just adding more electrical systems to do things that the driver should be doing, no thanks.
The key portion of your post is "..... should be doing...." and I agree. BUT the problem, as I see it, is most drivers don't do what they should be doing. BLIS is a great safety feature and should only be used as a safety tool and not to be 100% relied on.

I love the option and will always have it on future vehicles. But it will be a tool only and I will not wholly rely on it.

I see you have 401a.... if you want your mirrors to dip downwards when backing then set one of your driver memory's to your existing setting but just change the mirror setting. That way, when backing, hit the memory button and you can see where backing. Works for me anyway.... along with using the camera and sensors....

when I get to the point of ordering a 2018 (one of these days) I will likely NOT get BLIS. We have it on my wife's 2017 explorer sport and at times I really like it, but other times when it beeps it startles the hell out of me for no reason. When Im blind backing out of a space with tahoes on each side and cant see anything, its nice. Other than that single instance, it annoys me. I dont park where people are all against me like that very often, so for me, its just not worth the investment, or it scaring the crap out of me.
