I bought some soft 'foam' black washers from from ebay when I used black plastic covers over the stock nuts. They fit over the massive locking nut to ensure no silver showed. Maybe a similar solution in this case as they just need to hold in place (mildly stretched around the nut?) rather than come between the alloy and nut.

Apart from the aesthetic aspect of the silver rings, would there also be any issue with oxidisation with the bare metal exposed?

I've got the Gorilla 'bulge' type nuts which fit perfect, but were expensive and now after 18 months, are showing signs of corrosion despite being off-and-on only once. They'll need replacing at some point, but loathed to spend out on the same thing again knowing they won't last.

The coyote ones are meant to be "okay".

Excuse the dirty wheels...this set now on https://nemesisuk.com/products/must...-kit-black-bulge-acorn-7-8-hex-1-54-531548blk

Look better that what I had on there before. I'll post some better pics once I've cleaned the wheels up - and send them to Nemesis so they can throw on the website. Not counting on the finish holding up but for ~ÂŁ30, can't complain! I did coat them with a wheel sealant yesterday (Poorboys), so we'll see how that goes,

Nope. Didn’t feel i needed them. Always park somewhere relatively secure, and can’t see anyone nicking stock wheels either!

Forgot to mention this the other day...

When Ford took off my new lug nuts, they seemed to think they came off too easily - I had the wheel alignment place torque them to 120. Ford supposedly knew better & tightened them to 150. I went with 120 because that's what I picked up on in this forum - because of my spacers. Could probably find the threads but don't have time at the mo.

Any danger here of having them done too tight? If I was to remove my wheels (e.g. for cleaning), do I now need to make sure I tighten to 150 again? Or can I safely put them back on and torque to 120?

Yeah this is a danger with over torquing (obviously this chaps eibach set went whilst he was driving, not when torquing up)

So the question is...should I torque back down before I do any serious driving? Kinda don't wanna do that unless someone says there is no danger in it lol

Contact the spacer providers, ask them for their specs of wheel to hub torque, go with that. If the bolt cant handle 150, you're risking it being under extreme tension.

So, bringing this back up to the top again ...

How is the black chrome gorilla finish surviving in the UK ?

Cheers,

Good question...not happy with mine - pictured above (3rd set of black nuts). So i'll be investing in some new ones in the near future. Not 100% sure if I've had any by Gorilla, but I think my first set were - they were fairly cheap (under ÂŁ50) and the finish did not last well at all.

Seriously tempted to just fork out on the ludicrously expensive ford performance ones; https://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-performance-lug-nut-kit-oe-style-black-2015-2020/p/M1012KMB/
Or these locking gorilla nuts as a (slightly) cheaper alternative; https://www.cjponyparts.com/gorilla...lge-black-chrome-set-of-20-2015-2020/p/WHLL2/

Appreciate any other recommendations!

Hi,

Im not sure you can get gorillas for under ÂŁ50 ?

The last pictures you posted defo aren’t gorillas and judging by your pictures when I viewed them on the big screen at work, I think they even got marked on first installation ? They actually look like they could be painted rather than plated ?

Im hoping the gorillas, although expensive in the UK, are worth it in the long run if they keep their good looks for a number of years ... :like:

yea the ones pictured above are coyote ones from nemesis. About £35 IIRC. Maybe i’ll try the non locking gorillas next then, i’m not too fussed on having locking nuts.

any links for mustang compatible gorilla nuts?

I’m struggling to find them in the UK, looks like it might be a $ plus tax purchase ... :frown:

There must be some UK gorilla owners out there who could chime in on longevity :like:
