Getting a little frustrated with my GT


Ran the 1/8 mile again today.

I have forever been stick in the 8.6xx world with terrible DA and heat.

Today DA was 2475 with temps in the low 80's at Wilkesboro Dragway.

Lund tune, Steeda intake, Corsa Xtreme exhaust are my current mods under the hood.

Today I ran a 8.4812 @ 88.03mph with a 2.073 60ft.

I run street tires on 20x9 and 20x10.5 Verde Axis wheels. While they seem light enough...


Am I killing my times with these wheels?

Beyond the obvious gains I would see with a DR or dedicated slick, how much could I drop with a big and little set up?

I am getting frustrated a little with this car when I see stock M6 cars pulling the same or better times as me but Up North. Wish I could come home and run at Milan outside Detroit and see what she would run.

my best 60 on my na car was a 2.0-2.1 on nitto invos. I swapped to a race star set up on hoosiers and had a 1.7 60ft. ran 11.78 with long tubes, m6, lund tune, and jlt cai

I dropped my 60ft by .4-.5 just by going to Hoosiers. They are awesome for stick cars

If your a stick car you can drop 1/2 a second just from the sticky tires out back. An auto car on the stock stall will drop about 3/10ths from the stickys. Both cars will drop another tenth from skinny front runners and should pick up a little MPH from the weight loss.

Can you post your 8.4 pass slip? Are you getting quite a bit of tire spin on the 1-2 shift? Some tracks are like dynos, they boost your ego or break your heart. I always focus on beating my last best time each time I go out knowing that somewhere at a better track someone is cutting 1.7 60s on stock tires/suspension and making me look like Im driving a stock V6 car.

Im going tomorrow and will be trying out some 305 Nitto DRs if they fit. Im hoping to be able to keep them from hopping and see if I can get into the low low 8's.

Well I found that launching off the launch control at 3000 rpm worked good. Small amount of spin of the line ( they put street tire cars outside the groove at this track which is bullshit) and I did not notice much spin on the 1-2.

I will try to post the slip when I get a chance.

Bottom line, I will be happy if I can get a 7.9 1/8th with some tires. Then I will go from there. LTH and a few more mods and then a SC down the road.

I have to launch alot less aggressively (2000-2500 slipping the clutch out slowly) or one of many things will happen. Blow the tires off at launch (cant use LC for this reason lol) or it will hop like a mad mad and finally Ive had the clutch protection (I assume) kick in and kill all power. Tomorrow on DR's I really plan to stay conservative and just try to whittle down the 60ft time and see what she will allow.

I ran thru the settings as I went and made notes. The one time I ran with it completely bypassed I launched ok but spun like crazy on the 1-2 shift. I ran my best run with it in "sport mode" and have been running it like that ever since. On DRs I might try to go thru the selections again and see what the track allows.
