A waffle weave microfiber towel works wonders. If you have the means I would also recommend using an air blower to dry your car as it reduces the chance of swirl marks in your paint.

I use a synthetic chamois (like "The Absorber"), chased with a slightly damp microfiber for any drips or runs. Whatever you choose to use, if you accidentally drop it on the ground, do NOT put it back on your paint until it's 100% clean!

Leaf blowers do also work quite well!

I've been using an electric leaf blower for the past 20 years +.

I also use a dedicated electric leaf blower. Works great and gets the water out of all the crevices which a towel can't do. It does take me a bit longer but something I'm willing to do to keep the paint in great condition.

Cheap leaf blower.
The less you touch the paint the better.
I do the side mirrors and door handles first, as they splatter water on other areas.
Next, I move to the hood, front window, side windows, roof, back window.
I finish up with the rear end, front end, and wheels.
When I've finished that, I wipe down the sides going front to back with one long swipe, then again, and again until I've finished the sides with a waffle micro towel.
I've tried drying the entire car with a blower, but I'm not able to finish it without spots of water drying on the paint.

Water sheet as much off as you can

Then air compressor with a smaller nozzle to get in all the creases with a more concentrated blast

Finish up with either microfiber towels or electric leaf blower, depends on what I'm feeling that day. Generally the less physical touching of the car the better.

Anyone use one of these?

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/flexible+water+blade+.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=

I've got one and have used it a couple of times and it greatly reduces the number of towels and time. My only concern is if it's bad for the paint. It's super flexible and obviously I only use when it and the car have been washed well. Anyone with experience?
I have been using a California Water Blade for over a decade. It is the same thing as above just a different brand.

I have not seen any marring issues.

Absorber, then leaf dry. Works like a charm.

Try this method it works very well,

SpRay either detail spray or a sealant like Adams guard and gloss onto a panel and have a damp microfiber towel and spray some on the damp towel ,(16x24 is good) and in lines of wipe the panel

Now with a dry microfiber buff it out

Continue in every panel it's very quick

It gives extra lubricant to not scratch and it gives out more shine and seal
That damp towel absorbs the water real good

I use an old fashioned chamois, works well for the most part, then follow up with old bathroom towel. I dry the channels in the trunk, the door sills, inside the fuel door, and under the hood and as much as possible on the front grill
