I just won a new MS8 from ebay and am looking for the best place for the installation. I'll be just starting with the JBL MS-8 driving the stock speakers, but will eventually add another amp+sub. Further down the road, there may be another amp to drive upgraded speakers. I'd like it all as stealthy as possible and non-intrusive if in the trunk. Any ideas?

I'd try for underneath the package tray, if there is room. Or in the spare tire well if you dont have the spare

I looked in the trunk tonight. Package tray looks like a possibility although it isn't flat between the speakers. So it would take some creativity. Spare tire well has enough space but would probably require fans as I am sure it would get hot in there and there is some 1/2" insulation/sound deadening under the lid that goes over it. I wounder if there is room under the front seats?

Let me know if you try the front seat option and if you have to raise the seat to get it to fit. I would hate to have to raise my seat much. It's already as low as it can go, and I still think it's too high!

I am not crazy about raising the seats. I like em low as they go. I do have an idea for the ms-8 / amps though. I think I will try to make a amp rack made of MDF that hangs off the package tray between the rear deck speakers for the amps. Kind of like

Do it! Would love to see one of these done in the s550, especially with a sub box in the mix!

I would go for in the tire well. Once you start running all your cables and everything, it really isn't THAT much harder to just go the extra 2 ft to the trunk. That way, if you have to make changes, check fuses, replace RCA etc, its all right there. Not to mention when you recalibrate the ms8 you have to plug in the headset, and I recalibrated quite often.

Also I wouldn't worry too much about heat in the spare tire well, most of the gear will run just fine in there.

BTW I will at some point be doing a full blown sound quality build using an MS8, and I'll post a full build log on here when I do, but I don't have plans to start anytime soon.
