Battery dead. Argh COVID-19.

The dealer replaced mine out today. It is unfortunate that they can’t even service my vehicle without scratching the top of my fender. I assume this was done from jumper cables since it needed jumped to get into the shop from sitting over night. This is right in the path of the battery. It could also have been from putting the battery in and just grazed the top edge. I buffed it out at work and it is mostly gone, you have to look real hard to notice it.

Exactly why I pulled my battery out of the damn car and took it to Ford. They tested it, found it defective, I picked up the new one and installed it myself. They originally told me I would have to bring the car in and I told them I'd be PISSED if I had to do so.

Looks like the lazy SOB dragged it across the top of the fender. Either that or he was a 90 pound weakling who couldn't lift a friggin battery. I'd be pissed. Tell the dealer you're taking it to a body shop to get it buffed out and sending them the bill cause who knows what it'll look like if they did it.

3 weeks if not very cold is not an issue.... over 2 months in winter, it could become one... It also depends what consumers you have in the car.

you missed my earlier post where i said the car started right up after sitting over winter in an un insulated garage without a battery tender or anything

Picked up a 2019 GT-350 last year and drove every week, a few times a week. Then shelter in place happened. I went two weeks without driving, no problem. Started right up. Then went 3 weeks, and nothing. No lights, no dashboard. Nada. Ran out to Costo and picked up a Type 6 Lithium Jump Starter. Worked on the second try. My question is whether it is normal for a car battery to die so quickly between drives. Never had that happen in other cars. Only thing connected is a Uniden R7 via direct tap to the mirror, but that shouldn't draw when the car is off. Is FordPass or active updates cycling the wifi from time to time? I don't think I should have to get a battery tender for such short times between drives.

Yeh, me too. Dead as a doornail on Saturday, after not being driven for several days. Even more importantly, I think: I hadn't taken it out of town since I bought it in January, with no trip more than 3 miles. I think it never got a chance to be recharged (from driving) since sitting on the showroom. Hope it's better once COVID is over.

Mine had to be charged so I could drive it off of the showroom floor. It has been good ever since, but I drive it a lot. Also, I noticed when I am in the garage or the driveway, it will make sounds like the fuel pump is energizing for a start and the FOB is in the house.

My 2017 had a dead battery after 3 weeks of lockdown. I have kept it on a CTEK battery maintainer since then so no more start problems. But pet peeve about the battery maintainers is the lack of a voltage readout. So I soldered in a little digital voltmeter scavenged from my model airplane stuff and added it on the charger. I like keeping an eye on the battery. I got so darn many of them and hate when stuff won't crank up.
I have 2 CTEK chargers a cheapie and the bigger 7000. Amperage output is the difference. The 7000 is more of an all around charger. But for big jobs I have a roll around floor model.

I battery tender mine if it's going to sit for more than a couple of weeks. As mentioned above, there are lots of parasitic draws with the computer and sensor array.

If I don’t go out and buy a new battery this year, then I will definitely be taking the battery out of the car over the winter and keeping it on a tender in my basement.

My battery is being replaced by the dealer. I have ~450 miles on my 2020. It only sat for a few days at a time.

I heard the sounds from the back of my car a few times also, it just setting in the shop. Sounds like fuel pump or something,
anyone knows what's up with that?
