2016 GTCS. When driving at night, I always turn my light switch on and off manually vs using the auto off setting. After turning off the car and shutting off the headlights, I open the door but hear the headlight chime. I notice the headlights are still on but look at the switch and it is in the off position. Switch it back on and then off and lights go off but then turn back on a couple seconds later. Move the switch some more and then back to off and they stay off. This has happened to me twice now but I want to get some other opinions before buying a new switch to make sure it couldn’t be something else.

Isn't there a setting in the car main menu to keep the headlights on for x amount of time after you turn off? I'd make sure that is set a zero before I was fully convinced it was the switch.

The switch is probably incredibly cheap on eBay. I’d just order one and replace it.

I have a brand new, non-fog headlight switch for sale in Marketplace, $20 shipped. They normally cost about $55. Can have it shipped to you today.

I dont really care about the money, just have this sitting around and if it'll help someone esle, I'm all about it.

Ok. :) 👍

The headlight switch is a very simple switch to ground circuit that simply notifies the BCM what you want to do. It's very easy to remove and check it with an ohm meter. I think there's even a guide for troubleshooting it in the wiring manual.

So I checked and there is an autolamp setting that was set to 20 seconds but from what I can tell by reading the manual, it only applies when I have the switch set on the autolamp setting. Am I wrong here? The reason I’m asking is that I never use the autolamps so it shouldn’t be causing my issue

I don't think they are necessarily tied together just because they are auto features. Try setting at 0 and see if your problems persist. If they do, try a new switch since they are cheap enough. But this test is free so why not?

Yes, the timer only applies when you have the light switch on auto.
