I picked up my 2019 Mustang GT about a week ago and can't seem to get the B&O system to sound acceptable. It is VERY bassy but not in a good way. It's boomy and sloppy even at default settings. The mids also generally seem overpowered and the highs are very recessed (probably exacerbated by the boomy bass).

I am just wondering what other B&O owners have adjusted their settings to in the menu to improve the sound? At the moment I have:

Bass: +2 from Min setting
Mids: +3 from Min setting
Treble: -2 from Max setting
Stereo rather than surround
Auto volume: Off

It's not ideal and some music feels like it needs more or less of something. Is there a "pro" equaliser setting in the menu hidden somewhere?

Anything else that can be done to keep the bass from drowning everything else out with it's sloppy action?

I don't have the B&O so take this with a grain of salt. But in my 301A package car I disabled the center dash speaker as many on here have with a great improvement. To test it I placed a book over the center speaker and listened and it made a pretty decent difference with just that alone. I went ahead and unplugged the dash speaker and it was such an improvement I likely won't upgrade anything now. So you may want to try covering it and see if that helps or not as a start.

Here's a great thread:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/join-me-in-fixing-the-center-speaker-issue.125522/

Several options, from removing it, clipping it at the speaker (these require digging into the dash), I think by far the simplest is to clip it at the amp, which is easily accessible in the driver's side panel (there's several posts that show which wire). One guy even make a toggle switch for it, I guess the design intent is for voice feedback from the car, but it apparently introduces noise for listening to music.

I'm going to see if I can do a reversible wire removal (someone said they couldn't get it out of the harness, but I have a couple of tricks :))

This for sure! I pulled the dash silver panel (pops off) and speaker grill, removed the speaker, unplugged it and then put it back in. But to be honest in hind sight cutting the wire would have been a lot easier. I was just scared of cutting the wrong one that's the only reason I didn't do that. In that thread there's a CJ Pony video I posted on how to remove the silver dash panel. After that you just pop up the the front of the speaker grill on the dash. You will likely lose a few dash clips so I had to order some off Ebay to replace what I lost. I couldn't locate them like others did and gave up on that.

But try blocking the speaker first to see if that improves it or not as I'm not sure what it does on the B&O only the system I have. A mouse pad is good to block it as well.

Most people say turning surround on is a big improvement. Give that a try.

I switched surround on and off a bunch and agreed, so I left it on

I'm old, so YMMV, but here's my settings:

Those are damn near identical to mine. I don't use the speed compensated volume though.

Speed compensated volume is on low for me or it just cranks up too much at higher speed.

I run bass at minimum, treble and mid in the middle and have filled my sub with polyfill (I actually used some old hollow fibre pillow contents) and that has tightened up the bass considerably and got rid of the boomy bass which was overwhelming everything.

Easy to fill the sub - remove from the car (3 bolts) and disconnect the wiring plug. Carefully prise off the trim ring on the front (it is tough to get off and you will almost certainly break some of the clips but it should go back on OK) then remove the speaker and add some hollow fibre. I put in about half a pillow worth. The effect was dramatic for me and I'm mystified why they don't do it as OEM

I honestly found little difference covering the centre speaker so didn't bother disabling it.

Oh and one final thing - when people post their settings or opinions make sure you state whether coupe or convertible as they are completely different sonically.
