I just picked up a 2023 Mach 1. It came with the B&O 12 Speaker System. Has the subwoofer in the trunk. Turning the volume up to get more sound and its noticeably meager at best. Max volume is definitely an oxymoron in my car. I am using my iPhone over BT and it's not the volume on the phone (I checked).

Any thoughts? Thanks!

There are a few threads, on upgrading the system. I purchased the Pioneer sub (TS-A250 D4), as suggested by other members, but haven't installed it yet. I will look for detailed threads and reply back.

If you have a MyKey programmed and you are using that key, that usually has a car volume limiter. I have one programmed with volume and speed limits as well as traction control always on ( I use it for valet/service use to mitigate shenanigans)

My exact question in another thread a couple of days ago regarding my Gt & Bullitt.

After no responses i rang an audio shop thats been around many years. There advice changing speakers would make little or no difference. The word Amplification came up frequently, apart from starting again there was nothing he could suggest.

His take was Ford limit the volume loudness to avoid a lot of blown speaker warranty claims. Both my FN's have a max volume of 30 which is barely medium loud. Even with 61 year old ears its not loud.

You’re gonna have to upgrade to get a remarkable improvement in sound. There are lots of ways to accomplish this and they range from mild to wild.

Are you looking to go with aftermarket upgrades or just trying to squeeze a little better sound out of what you have? If your answer is the latter, you might consider adding Hertz DSK 165 6.5 mid bass woofers (powered by the B&O amp), add polyfil to the factory B&O sub enclosure and unplug the center channel speaker in the dash.

If that doesn’t do it for you, you can add-on from there by installing the Hertz tweeters and a separate amp to drive them, along with a small sub amp to drive your B&O sub (be careful here though not to then the gain up too high and blow it) or you can replace the factory B&O sub with an aftermarket one and still use the factory enclosure.

@Topdown, you should look at the threads where many of us have upgraded the B&O system. Warning, it can become a bit expensive, depending on what you want......you heard amplification come up from the installers because it is a true statement. Just so you know the stock speakers in the system would probably fly farther than a frisbee when thrown :).

Thanks mate appreciated.
You wouldn't happen to know the name of those threads would you? 🙂

I wish this site was easier to search, but here is a thread that can be a good starting point. Most of the knowledgeable people chimed in. Search for CATHUL, Stangtime, Evolvd, NGOT8R, Luv2fly3, joe603, and myself to find other threads referring to our upgrade ventures. I am sure I left out many people with much more knowledge than me :)

After upgrading my OEM sub with dual 12s run by a high/low converter and amp, I had the same issue, not loud enough. With the windows down, forget it! To fix it, I went all-in aftermarket and replaced my mids/highs. Definitely a project. Lots of threads (including mine) on builds. No free lunch with this car.

Did MyKey reset work? Otherwise I'd say it's something with BT and device settings silly like vol control or others try a different device.

Not worth upgrading anything if using BT. Best is a small dedicated device like S9 in console with high grade data cable to USB port and android auto. Use dedicated data SIM or hotspot from main device.

No way the volume should be low on B&O.

I know this is an old thread but the ford amps overheat after about 30 seconds of use and throttle the power.

I have a '23 with the 12 speaker system and mine is not like this at all. At volume level 11 it's already loud, my mirrors are visibly vibrating and I can feel strong bass from the doors. At volume level 15 it's really too loud and the whole car is vibrating from the stereo and I worry my glass is going to fall out or something. This is with BT, CD, or FM.
