So I parked my car Thursday. Zero issues at the time. Started it this morning to take the gf home and got the warning on the dash.
"Axle over temperature reduce speed"

Odd, the cars been sitting for several days.

Shut it off. Turn it back on, same error.

Scroll through the gauges and axle temp is 3 lines.

Anyone have this issue? Failed sensor?

I'll be calling Ford tomorrow as it's still under warranty. Only mod is bmr springs.

Crawl under the rear; look for the sensor that is plugged into the back of the rear diff cover. it will be the lowest sensor and the plug/sensor will be facing you if you’re looking straight at the rear diff from under the back bumper.

Here’s an image from my 3.55 Torsen that I had posted in another thread a while back; this is just showing the location the sensor:

Give the plug or harness the wiggle test. See if the sensor plug has become loose or unplugged, after doing that get back into the car and see if the error persists. If the error is still there, then check the harness for any physical damages or possible rodent chew through.... If you don’t see anything it’s possible the sensor has just prematurely failed.

The sensor is intact. I'm guessing it's failed. But I wasn't sure how common it was

Is it supposed to show actual temperature on the dash? Mine never has and it has a sensor just like the pic Cobra Jet posted.

Yes, when driving, it should show a temp readout when you select that item from the main gauge cluster menu. It should display a similar mini-gauge (in analog cluster) like CHT values.

Post of pic of what you're seeing after selecting it from the menu.

Make sure the sensor harness and connector isn't damaged and that the harness connector is totally secure onto the sensor itself. Give it a wiggle test and see if the gauge pics up any value after checking.

I've never selected the feature with the car stone cold before driving, but I'd imagine it should pick up a value even if the car is sitting at idle.

Oh okay. I can’t take an actual pic of my gauge cluster right now, as the car isn’t road ready just yet, but all I’ve ever seen are the three lines as shown in post #1.

Is this a PP1/2 or Mach1 only thing?
2018+ GT/EB PP rear covers will have the included threaded port for the rear axle temp sensor. I’m pretty sure this also exists on the Mach 1, Bullitt and any Shelby.

IIRC, the Shelby was the first S550 to have that feature and it was carried over to the 2018+ model platforms as noted above.

That’s interesting. I’ll have to take a look next time I’m under the car and see what’s going on there. I don’t remember seeing the readout in my cluster in my 19GT base. Maybe the harness is taped back somewhere and I can enable it with forscan.

U.K. cars get the sensor, the harness and it will stop your fun if it gets hot, but no readout on the dash.

It’s possible on a U.K. car to turn it on with ForSkin, but we have the digi dash as standard do I can’t help you with codes etc.

Interestingly I have only got the gauge and not the actual digital value, perhaps there’s another line of code I need to mess with …

I got this message when tracking my car on Friday. It's a 2019 Bullitt. I got the impression that the next step would probably be going in to limp mode until it cooled down. Other than not tracking the car, which isn't an option, any ideas what I can do to prevent this from happening on the track?
