Looking for a solid axel back to pair with my h pipe. Not going for the raspy sound but more the deeper sound. Been looking at the Borla s type but I can’t justify $1000 for just an axel back. Anyone have any ideas? Want as little drone as possible.

CJ Pony Parts has great sound clip videos of different brands and setups , I already have drone with the H-pipe and stock mufflers.

NxtStep from American Muscle. 409 stainless. Always stays low pitched, no rasp. Here is a pitch and volume graph i took yesterday from my 2017 Gt vert with stock exhaust and Nxtstep axle back. The graph was from me being wide open in 3rd gear from 3k rpm - 5500rpm with the top down. And the best part? The price!!

If you do go axle back you may be in need of bottle resonators between the axle backs and H pipe. Remember, Borla cat back systems do come with bottle resonators. The Borla S were made for an OEM system. A S650 with Switchfire and Borla S made 120 decibels until they put bottle resonators. Ut that's an S650 which has a different sound and can be louder than an S550 with the same mods.

There's lots of different opinions on set ups, it's all a matter of personal choice. I spent a lot of time listening (online) to different combinations and eventually put Roush axle backs with a Steeda H-pipe on my 2016. Cold starts can be a little loud to some.

Yeah I agree with the roush cold start being a bit loud. The sounds I’ve heard for the borla s type and the steeda h pipe sound about perfect for my preference just can’t bring myself to spend a grand on an axel back so just seeing if there were anymore options out there at a cheaper price. But I guess it’s probably going to be one of those you get what you pay for things.
