I would say test drive it, but it looks like you're outta country.

Auto 3.55's here, but PP tires (le, auto and pp) with a vmp tune and when above 65 degrees it sticks and goes. But if anything causes some spin, that's all she wrote. With the tune, 1-2 shift can roast the hot dogs and 2-3 can give a pretty good chirp on a cooler day (below 80 is cool to south Louisiana).

The paddles aren't outstanding, but suffice for when I want a little sportier driving experience.

I am a LONG time manual owner. Was hesitant to switch but mine is my daily and traffic for me is getting to where I just don't want a manual. Plus, my replica cobra is a manual so I have a row your own to play when wanted. I'll never go back to a manual daily driver now.

Fwiw, I have a Lund tune also that is very aggressive on the wot up shift and it blows them away every shift 1-2-3. But it's a little too much for knocking around town. Kicks like a mule at wide open and a little too much at part throttle.

I test drove both and selected the '15 GT Auto Premium with the 3.55 gearing, and 20inch wheels.

I have owned both manual and auto transmission vehicles, but because of heavy freeway traffic the auto is more practical.

As for fun, the auto with the 3.55 gearing is fast. The transmission shifts quickly, much more so than the mt 6sp I tried. The premium package also has several settings for the auto, i.e. 'S' selection on shifter and additional track and 'S' on the computer that change shifting points, transmission behavior, higher rev/ rpms, and steering sensitivity.

I am still learning the car and have noticed on the open highway, the standard drive setting is better for cruising at higher speed. The car handles great and is very fast.

As was stated already, try both and see which suits you. I can say that I am quite satisfied with the 6 speed automatic transmission.

thanks smokinzx14r. i used to live in tampa. I'm in auckland now with lots of traffic so the AT has appeal. haven't been able to test drive the mustangs are not here yet. i was just wanting to make sure the AT will be what you said, " rip your head off", yeah sounds awesome! can you spin out the tires when taking off? just a bit that is.

They spin just fine.

I think I notice that Sport+ is getting a little more aggressive as I drive it more. It's a lot of fun, both paddle-shifting and letting it shift for itself. It's really pretty good at choosing gears in Sport+. Have to say the D and Normal mode is like a good shot of Novocaine. The car becomes very relaxed and quiet. It will still respond, but there is a lag as it chooses a lower gear. Paradoxically, this is a good thing, as "relaxed" has its place in my world. It makes the car a brilliant cruiser, but still capable of switching modes and getting after it when the time is right. I, too, am a long time (25 year) manual Mustang owner and was anxious about choosing the A6. It was a good call.
