What are we to do with the transmission fluid in the autos on these S550s?

Pan drop and fill every 30K? The force flush bullshit?

I've never had an auto and I know its such a contentious topic so I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Ford says every 150,000 miles regardless of normal or special operation.

Is this real life? I cannot fathom not changing my tranny fluid or at least servicing it in the next 15 years.

Yup, Ford thinks LV is a miracle fluid.

LV is just the name ford gave the fluid spec that they use.

No, personally I would keep an eye on the condition of the fluid and change it accordingly, maybe 60k or so depending on how hard you drive.

Just a drop and fill?

What's your take on the pressure flushed fluid thing?

I would get a flush done, that way it cleans the whole system, just dropping the pan you skip the torque converter.

As long as its a newer machine they work great, and they also clean out the trans cooler too witch is nice.

Anyway to guarantee its a newer machine? I just hear the horror stories of people getting their tranny flushed and having horrible issues.

You can ask them, most good shops will know what they use.

Most of those horror stories are probably from miss-filled transmissions after the service, or the trans was already bad before the flush.

With the new stuff getting the level correct is really easy now that they're electronically controlled.
