Got my Borla Touring Cat Back installed today and thought I'd share my thoughts and opinion..... Keep in mind, exhaust notes are very subjective and a very personal taste.

Idle is definitely more noticeable, with a much deeper slightly louder tone. Like others have mentioned, I would say its about 10% louder, maybe a bit more. On the throttle as normal it sounds beautiful all the way through the rev range, only getting deeper in tone as you hit the higher RPM...... The sound almost reminds of what a Gorilla would sound like if you tried to steal his Banana haha!

Its not obnoxious sounding at all and definitely no drone on the highway. In sports mode for us Auto drivers, it burbles perfectly when up revving on the gear downshift with no splutter or backfiring and just purrs as the revs lower.

Anyone considering the Touring System, go for it! If its the deep, throaty V8 sound you want, this system will not disappoint
I agree wholeheartedly.... (except maybe the bit about the Gorilla as I have no experience in this area)!

Where did you get it installed?

Do the pipes sit square / in the centre of the cut outs in the valance?

Did they weld the pipes or clamp them?

Thanks
Graeme

Hi Graeme,

I had my local mechanic install it, yes the pipes sit well in the cut outs. If you really wanted to nit pick I would say the left side is a tiny bit lower but from what I have read that is pretty common. The pipes are clamped

Now I don't know if the Borla S axle backs, or the full touring cat back are the go for me. I have heard the Borla S axle backs with the stock resonator is a little bit quieter than the touring.

Great review, enjoy your touring system Troy

Cheers Paul, Its really up to you. I didnt fancy the axle back option as once you've cut your standard system you are pretty much screwed if the sound isn't what you want. At least with the cat back you can always change back, but there is no way in hell Im doing that.

Its always a risk when you haven't heard the exhaust in the flesh but Im completely happy with how the Touring sounds. It really is that deep old school V8 sound. School kids heads were turning by the dozens today as I drove past them

Bought it from Vogtland Mustang ...... Fred at Suspension Parts Online. He was great to deal with and gave the best price of any Aus distributor. Kept me in the loop the whole way. Would deal with him again without hesitation

This is a bit of a practical question - has anyone had a catback installed at a shop and then taken then stock system home, and if so, how did you get it home? I understand that it's a single unit so presumably won't fit in the Mustang?

I stuck it in the daughters Falcon ute and bought it home...it is friggin heavy......the power to weight increase from dumping that noise stopper is well worth getting it off the car.

Took mine home on a hilux traytop. And yep its one big unit thats cumbersome. Nows it stands up in the shed anchored to the end wall.
Its a very ordinary bit of work to tell the truth. Aftermarket is far better in looks and performance compared to stock. Cant wait to replace the crap headers and cats with the xforce system.

To think, some company constructs those systems for Ford with pride. To be fitted on a Mustang. We rip them off first chance we get and use the original system as a "shed ballast" to stop our sheds blowing away on a windy day !!!!!:lol::lol:

agree totally. They have to supply parts to a cost that delivers the best functionality, probably knowing that they could do so much better if their hands werent tied.

Just think, if we had the option if a full system installed at the factory (pending on ADR compliance) for $2k we would jump at it and the vendor could supply a better product and less waste in the world
