Many here heard the Borla S-type in-person and under load? Thoughts guys?
I am thinking of getting the same one. From all the videos I've watched over the last 4 months since I ordered my baby, this particular one is music to my ears.

Videos don't do justice and I would also like to hear more thoughts if anyone has heard it in action.

I recently read from someone that it was too loud for them so they put the axleback instead of the catback and the volume was just right.

Something that's louder and more grunty than the stock, but it doesn't wake up the whole neighborhood is what I am after.

Bobsp12 has the S-type, I don't think there's anyone else that has installed it yet

Decent Axle backs may be your thing then....Magnaflow Competition AB's or S Type etc would be fine...I went SLP Loudmouths for a slightly louder deeper note. And they were cheap.

We are really happy with the s type....as I have mentioned before, dont listen to cjpp's sound clips for an indication of how it sounds, except maybe for the cold start up one. The video that Borla make themselves is closer to the mark. It is loud but not ridiculous when on the gas, but quiet at any cruising speed, whether doing sixty kays or a hundred. It is no louder than the myriad of commodores that infest the road.
The closest other vehicles I can relate it to is the early 289/302 windsors in 60's mustangs.
I would certainly not change it out for any other system.
If you are carrying around people who aren't into cars then I guess you may get some who dont like any vehicle noise and may start complaining, but everyone we have driven around love it. Its part of the reason they line up for rides. It is totally up to how you drive. If it is just a leisurely trip around the city then it can be driven at hardly any louder than stock. Not that your right foot likes that idea much.

Went for a test run in a car with a full xForce system and the roush/Ford racing blower kit last week. From inside the car it sounded great and not too loud either. initial tune brought a nice 540hp with only 7lb.

Fitted a Borla S type cat back to mine today, sounds absolutely beautiful, no drone, nice and quiet when you are cruising, but when you get into it, you surely know it's there p:D

Did you fit yourself BKStang? and did you find the fitting as straight forward as the videos suggest? Certainly appears so.
Thanks

Hey Doc
Fitted it myself, really easy, took about 40 mins. Backed it up on a set of ramps which gave me enough room to work on the system. The hardest part was removing the old system because it is 1 piece. Just takes a bit of manoeuvring, but once it's off its really easy putting the Borla on:thumbsup:

Bought it locally from best exhaust, I bought it when the dollar was a bit better, price was $2k, think they are a bit dearer now. At the time it was cheaper to buy locally than import, not sure what it is like now though

did delivery take long? had heard that once you order they then go and order from the US so delivery times are extended despite them being in Canberra?

also anyone have an idea why the 3" is actually cheaper than the 2.5" in the Borla S-Type?

Thanks
