OMG.... The worst case of Mustang tax I have found to date!!!!!!

I was pretty set on getting Hurricane full exhaust system. Pretty sweet and was quoted $4000. I was pretty happy with that. Told my dealer that's what I wanted and decided not to tell them what I was quoted. After a long discussion about warranty it was pretty clear that headers will void warranty from Fords point of view. Fair enough I guess. So I asked them who they prefer to do any mods so I could speak to them. Decided a roush filter and hurricane cat to backs would have to do. With some steeda springs and the stop hop pack.

First alarm bell. This workshop told me to forget the research I had done because USA prices don't translate to Australia.

Second after telling me headers wouldn't really get me a power gain (not the first time I have heard this) the guy ran through some exhaust options that he would have to import. I told him I wanted hurricane. No need to import. He is a dealer for them but didn't think to mention that.

Alarm three was that he didn't even know what's steeda stop hop was and said springs would do the same thing. I did mention I had seen them on MM and mentioned the price I had seen them and was immediately I was bombarded with all the reasons they would cost me more. Even cited $150 shipping from Melbourne??

OMG story short here are the figures he emailed me today...... All prices are installed, I have rounded the figures cause I can't access my work email but......

Hurricane cat to back $3200
Steeda springs $1200
Stop hop pack $2200
Roush intake $1200

Are you kidding me!!!!! Needless to say I will be telling him to go f#*k himself. I will also be letting the dealer know how bad these prices are with some examples of real world prices.

I'm just astounded that people think we are this dumb. I have never had a quote to get the springs done but as for the rest I could knock 50% off that easily.

I have one in my living room, unfortunately my car is still on a dock on the other side of the planet.... probably with the windows left down and the wrapper of some dock workers lunch under the passenger seat.

Best I can do is play the song of my people didgeridoo style and see if that produces the V8 sound desired.
Is it quad tip or dual..? AB or Catback? Sorry about too many questions. One more did you buy locally or imported it? :headbonk:

I just added all that up and it only came to $7,800. Surprised he didn't just round it off to $8000 neat.... Or is $8,000 too much?

I was quoted $3700 for full Xforce system, extractors, cats, catback. $750 for Airaid full air intake and $800 for the lowered springs.

Has anyone ordered a borla s type or ford racing by borla cat back locally? I've got the Magnaflow competition on order through my leasing company for my car, but I'm getting nervous it's going to be too loud.. I want the black tips to go with the blackout look I want. So the other 2 main options are those 2 above as they will be a bit quieter and with no drone. Not as nice a sound but I'm just a little scared the competition will be too loud for everyday use based on feedback here and other places. Nothing beats it for pure deep sound IMO but it might be a little much.. Need a local supplier for either of the above at a good price. Needs to be a local supplier so I can get it included in my lease. Managed to get the completion for $1800 which was a great price thanks to a recommendation on here. Anyone been able to get either of those 2 for around $1800?

Edit: or actually the corsa sport as well.

I paid $2000 for the S type with black tips through Best Exhaust in Canberra, that was when the dollar was a bit better, not sure what the price is at the moment

That isn't bad. Might give them a call Monday and see if they can do that or better. Wish I could hear a competition in person to know if I could handle it daily or not..

At the moment best exhausts are quoting just under $2200.00 delivered to your door

Hm that's a bit rich for an exhaust that arguably isn't as good as the magnaflow and is only using 2.5" pipes and 4" tips. Shipping on the magnaflow is only $95 as well. And I negotiated this when the dollar was lower than it currently is. Will ring best exhausts Monday and see what they can do. Don't know if I'm prepared to pay an extra $300 for a lesser exhaust.. Might just go with the street and deal with the fact it won't keep with my blackout look.
