Do you know what the stock balancer weighs? I just got a Romac balancer for my GT350 and it weighs 9.1 pounds
I just weighed my stock GT, it was 11 lbs.

For some reason I cannot find any info that I weighed the ATI.
This chart on ATI's site claims 5.5 lbs. I do not think that includes the A/C pulley. I highlighted the weight using a RED square.

I seen that on their site also, now in courious because Romac said their balancer was 30% lighter then ATI. But either way your saying that the stock balancer is 11 pounds and I weighed the Romac and it weighs 9.1 pounds. 1.9 pounds is still a pretty substantial loss of weight to loose from a rotating mass. Did you notice any difference in free rev?

I just installed mine using your method with a 6 inch threaded rod, only problem is after I got the ATI installed the threaded rod wont come out and the rod is below the top of the ATI. I can't get a set of vise grips on it. I can get the bolt out but the rod is wedged in there due to the torque of the install. Any suggestions?

Got it!! I was able to get a pair of pliers on it and it came out easy, Whew!

Any idea how to get the a/c belt back on with the ATI? It does not look like the zip tie method will work. Any thoughts?

Start by stuffing the belt behind the damper vertically, then slide it over the a/c pulley, then turn the crank and start feeding the belt back out from behind the damper...like you would a bicycle chain.
Hope this helps:thumbsup:

I've done it 3 times so far with my hands only. Well I drive the crank bolt with right hand and I feed it on the bottom of the A/C pump and turn and work the belt on slowly by hand.

When using the threaded rod/washer/nut method make the rod 7" long and use a cut off wheel to make a slot in one end that you can use a screw driver to back it out once installed. also some assembly lube on the threads should help with removal. For the damper install wipe some anti-seize on the crank snout and inside the damper hub before pressing on. This will prevent galling of either part as it is pressed on.
Great write up OP.

A/C Belt

I'm glad this thread can be of help.
Remember there are many ways and many scenarios, I don't claim to know much, or to have the best way, but if I can help someone tackle a project they were not sure about, then I'm happy.

I know I probably have this info in this thread somewhere, here's how I get the A/C belt on, I've haven't had success removing one yet, I always just cut it off, I'm probably just too puny to roll it off lol.

Now if you are OCD, make sure to have the letters facing where you can read them from the front of the car, unlike I did lol!
