I'd like a clear resolution on this before running aftermarket rims... I dont really need tmps, but this issue has been a hindrance before.

Or just buy the sensors. ;)

Easy for me to say since I drive long distances on my autocross tires and actually want the sensors to avoid the light but even more importantly to give me early warning of a tire problem so I might be able to avoid destroying a set of autocross tires.

So unlike other cars is there is no way to turn off TPMS 100% even with using a OB2 cable? Also I am used to a VAGCOM cable that Audi/VW uses to adjust certain features...does Ford not have this?

Assuming the track wheels don't get significant street use there are two potential advantages to the new TPMS:

1) IF a tire starts to go down significantly or the car starts to feel strange you either get a warning or you can preemptively check.

2) You can monitor the approximate tire pressure change as the tires heat during a session.

CJ Pony Parts had them in stock at relatively low cost compared to previous Ford sensors. http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-tir...valve-stem-style-set-of-four-2015/p/TBANDS5K/
I thought all we got was an idiot light? I have yet to see a full tire pressure display.

Go to gauges mode and scroll. The system normally doesn't respond immediately to pressure adjustments until you drive a bit.

I like the feature because I can monitor the pressures during a track session. They are plenty accurate for my purposes, stock suspension stock tires. I adjust pressures with a gauge (lowering them throughout the day) and the cars pressures are usually with in a pound of a gauge. Handy trend data, you can see what the delta is during a session and what the peak is as you come off before it has time to cool. Like others said nice having a warning before you enter a turn and get a bad surprise. For Drag Racing I understand not running them. I'm also 99% sure the TPMS has zero effect on performance.

Which would seem to make it useless for #2.

Not that OP needs TPMS, but for anyone else considering getting sensors for their other wheels:

Even cheaper from one of the other sponsors on the forum: http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-racing-wheel-mustang-tpms-sensor-p-3515.html

4 for ~$62 shipped for my zip code. Might be able to get even cheaper from closer dealers (they seem to be selling for about $12/sensor from another dealer I just looked up online as well).

I was referring to the display's response to making a pressure change while parked. It won't usually respond until you drive a relatively short distance. It quickly responds as tires heat even in normal driving.

You probably won't be able to turn off traction control.

I have had my stock rears (with TPMS sensors removed for about a month. The only that ever happens is that after driving around for a while the idiot light comes on. I have not felt any difference in the car performance wise, I turn ALL the advancetrac off before driving anywhere to. however, my car sits in my garage where I also happen to have the stock wheels/tires (that have the TPMS's in them) so the car sits close to the sensors most of the time, and then the light just comes on when the car is away from the garage long/far enough.

Thats all I wanted to know. I just wanted to have a set of drag tires and not have them effect anything. I can certainly deal with the warning light on those very few days I go to the track.

thanks!

The service manual does not indicate that a TPMS failure disables any other function or setting. It apparently only displays warnings.

FYI regarding sensor update rates I found this when research this topic:

Each of the 4 TPMS sensors contain a battery, a tire pressure sensor and a radio transmitter. The TPMS sensor radio transmissions are sent approximately once every 60 seconds when the vehicle speed exceeds 32.2 km/h (20 mph).
