Hey Guys,

I am thinking of changing my calipers, to red. I like a little more contrast.

Are the R Calipers Painted or PowderCoated from factory?

I read somewhere that they are painted,.. but was wondering if anyone can confirm. Those with Painted Calipers... Any issues?

Thanks!

I think they're powder coated, but I'm not sure. I painted mine several months ago with the G2 system, and I have absolutely no issues at all. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

99% sure mine are painted. As long as you use special high-temp caliper paint, you won't have any issues.

Im not sure, judging by how thick the coating is I'd venture to say they are powder coated.

I don't have much experience with powder coating. I just assumed they were painted because how they looked/shined. But I assume you could clear powder coated material as well?

Yes indeed, any color you want and you can finish in various ways.

I used the G2 system (got it on Amazon.com), and applied two coats per caliper. I did not remove the front calipers from the car completely, but I did remove the bolts and hung them in the wheel wells with wire so I could get to all sides of the calipers but still leave them connected to the brake hydraulic system. On the rear calipers, due to the complexity of the parking brake hardware, I just left them in place and masked the areas near the calipers. I'm sorry I don't have pics of the rears, but they look as good as the fronts do.

For the lettering, I ordered a stencil kit from an eBay seller, and used hi-temp spray paint to stencil the lettering back on. If I had it to do over again, I would have just ordered decals. It was a pain to pull the stencils off without lifting the painted lettering.

So no consensus on what Ford does from the factory?

If painting them, 2 questions.

1. What Color is the Brembo Red called?
2. Is the Decal put on over the clear-coat or under?

Thanks!

Whatever the bright red is from G2 is what I used. It seems to match with everything else I've seen.
