Hi guys, I'm hoping to get my own 5.0 in black with a MANual in about a year or so, but now I see the 2017/18 mustang is rumoured to be a facelift??

I'm just thinking, is it worth waiting? I want one so badly, but I'm worried once the facelift cars come out and production speeds up, our "first year" cars are going to be worthless like most Ford products here.

Are there any options that will trickle over from the States? Those fancy $1600 Recaro seats are lovely, and I'd pay to have them in my car from factory, but there is no option for it :(

What I'm trying to get at is - Is it worth waiting for a facelift version and for Ford to get their act together and offer (not the same but at least) similar parts, or should I wait and see, but then buy a cheap used first year car?

Any predictions on residuals? Not that they'll be accurate cause nobody knows, but what do you reckon?

There's plenty of people on here from jolly ole England. And if you're buying a car with the intent to resale within a few years then never buy new. Otherwise mid cycle refresh probably won't be till 2018

yes for some reason UK is not considered part of Europe :D
Yeah, M6G already has the inside scoop on the forthcoming EU referendum

I've moved this to the UK section......being an island nation, we don't want to be too close to Europe :p

To answer the OP's question......hmmm, tough one. Ford haven't exactly covered themselves in glory on this launch, so I wouldn't hold my breath on getting news as to when we'll get the face-lifted car, and what specs/options we'll get.

However, we're pretty sure the facelift will come for the '18MY....which we should see in the US around June/July/August 2017. I'm hoping we'll get first sight of the car at one of the early shows in 2017....perhaps Detroit in January, or New York in late March, before it goes on sale later in the year. Personally, given the rumours of a bump in power, a 10-speed auto and tweaks to the already good looks, I'd wait.

That being said, I don't think the new car will have a big impact on residuals on the current car. Given high demand and low sales, I think the second-hand values will remain strong, but only time will tell :)

If you want one, get one. There will always be a reason to wait; there will always be a 'better' model coming. But by the time the facelift actually arrives I'll have been driving mine for 2 years. Can't buy that time back. And if you wait long enough don't be surprised if the V8 disappears.

If you're a patient type of guy, I'd wait. It's a win win situation. Either you end up with a superior version of the car in 2018 OR, if it's really no different to the current model, you'll get a 2015/2016 car at a vastly reduced price if you can stomach a few miles on the clock and maybe not getting your perfect spec. However, availability of used cars might be quite limited!
