Lots of papers out there. Here's a paper nearly 2 decades newer from a grad student:

https://www3.epa.gov/otaq/fuels1/ffars/web-gas.htm

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1350&bih=1214&q=shell+"methanol"+additives

20 year old info:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antiwear_additive

If you aren't running E100 race gas, retail E85 that is FRESH has all the lubricity you need. If you run E85 on a regular basis, just plan on changing fuel filter in tank more often (60k miles instead of 100k) and dont store the vehicle with E85 in the tank (run a full tank of 93 and then refill before winter storage).

dunno... sketchy
not sure what you mean...
I’m obviously in no way shape or form some expert I was just curious if anyone was using upper lube on e85... but you pointed out on another thread that retail e85 doesn’t need any kind of lubricity additive which is all I was really trying to understand. I really appreciated your detailed answers to my novice questions in the other thread. So thank you!

The question was posed...is there any data backing up the application of lubricity additives... hence my sudo random links just to illustrate that clearly fuel lubricity is something studied.

Sorry was making a total dork joke. Did not mean in any way that you are sketchy or anything. Anyone here sketchy: its definitely me.

Not screwing a motor up on E85 is a real concern and there are plenty of E85 horror stories from dirty supplier tanks, water contamination, the "death wax" in the tank and filters.
