for weeks i kept thinking the buzzing resonance was my trans since i switched to the RP fluid but it actually is the reverse pull up collar buzzing like crazy which i found out today.

if i pull up on the collar while in gear the noise stops in all gears and while driving.

Curious if anyone has had this issue and found a fix? I plan to remove the boot tomorrow and maybe throw some grease on the shaft and the nylon washer under the pull up collar to see if this dampens the noise. the shift knob is not loose and if i make any tighter it will blow the top of the knob off.

That's rather strange, have you done any shifter/trans mount upgrades that may have induced this NVH?

I installed the Steeda rear trans bushing without any HVH to speak of.

no the shifter assembly is stock. i had tried the aftermarket shifters and didnt like the noise it introduced in the cabin.

i fixed this problem today. My pull up collar broke 5 times already and the dealer replaced it 3 of those times, last few i glued it but its cheaply made and def has bad tolerances.

i applied thick grease to the shaft, spring and nylon spacer and reassembled and its quiet now.

If I may ask which aftermarket shifters did you try and didn't like? I have read that it's mostly vibration with these shifters but I can imagine some transmission noise as well if they are directly connected. My toploader was this way but it was what it was and in the end I replaced it with an auto for drag racing.

my MGW has some vibration through the shifter which is to be expected since its direct mounted. I dont keep my hand on the shifter all the time, only during shifting.

MGW installed Sunday, and no added noise at all. Does vibrate through the shifter but cannot even feel on the console. I don't keep hand on shifter at all times so non issue for me.
