Continued from above………..

I couldn’t tell you if it’s running too high revs when running bad or too low revs when running good.

it’s definitely not the clutch. That clutch is solid. It’s definitely something confusing the ECU.
Could that be the speed sensor or cam/ Crank sensor problem ????

hi again
Yep it did it again today. Car felt a little off from cold and exhaust note was very boomy. Drove for an hour left the car for an hour and it ran perfectly. Pulling hard and very responsive, exhaust note was healthy as well.

one strange thing I’ve noticed though. The Rpm’s on the digital dash don’t seem to be correct. I’m getting to around 6000 rpm and it’s only showing 2-3k rpm ?.

could this be possibly the crank sensor that’s giving me all these problems maybe ?.

still no error codes either.

thanks

So we've posted many suggestions that you never responded to. Are you just going to keep posting the same complaint?

Hi All
Looks like the problem may be solved.
finally took it to the dealer and with luck it started playing up.
well at first they said they can’t feel the problem but when it suddenly ran better they felt the difference.

they said it’s 99% one or more coils acting up. Not necessarily not functioning but probably intermittently causing a weaker spark which is why it’s noticeable more on the low rpm side.

but they wanted to sell me 8 new coils at a stupid price with the risk it may not be the problem.
so I’ve ordered 8 at a reasonable price and when they arrive I’ll install them and see if it has fixed my problem.

do coils get weaker and intermittent though ?.
I thought they either work or they don’t ?.

The thing is that the difference seems mild to the engine and they dealer said that it probably won’t throw a code unless the problem is persistent.

I am noticing around 50-60 misfires during a 30 minute drive cycle and it’s not showing any codes at all.

Hello; I have had coils fail on outboards, older cars and lawnmowers, so they do fail. Interesting diagnosis. You appear to be about to start throwing new parts at the problem. Can work but also can wind up costing more.
Seems to me there should be ways to test coils.
But if not then maybe pull the plugs while the episode is happening. Stop the engine when running rough & before it clears up.
Being old school I still have a timing light. I likely would hook it up (if this is possible on the plug wires). The bad coil(s) ought to pulse the light differently.
Have you checked to see if the coils have clean grounds and that the connections are plugged in good?

Yeh plugs are good and coils look clean with no damage.
Problem is catching the engine when it starts to run a little off.
exhaust note also sounds different, hard to explain but it doesn’t sound crisp almost like a boomy trumpet sound. Almost like it’s not getting a strong enough spark.

Maybe a coil pack timing light is the way to go first ?
Which would be a good recommendation?.

along the lines of a coil, a cracked plug could exhibit those symptoms but again I d think you d get some kind of code. I think you said you checked all the intake connections/ MAF sensor?
Was this happening before you had the tune installed or did it start around the tune?
