I'll probably get flamed for this but has anyone tried the spray on protection?

GDIAF! Are you F'n Kidding me! GTFO!
J/K, never heard of this. Does it dry and become a layer of protection? Or is it more like a wax?

I installed Suntek myself also. I've done a few, as said above, takes time and patience for the front bumper. $200 was my cost.
So far as worth it. $200, well worth it! Nothing sticks to it, don't have to worry about rocks, bugs etc... If I had to pay $1000-1500...I don't know. It does keep the covered areas 100%.
I did my own bumper headlights nose and lower painted splitter. Bought precut kit 3m self healing and it ran me about $250. Totally worth it as I drive 70 miles per day on back highways in a very agricultural area. Tons of bugs and even more dirt that sandblasted my last two cars. Work every penny

I just got quoted $5800 for the detail and a full wrap done with Xpel Ultimate. Another place $1500 for full front including side mirrors also with Xpel Ultimate. The first, more expensive place, does a more thorough detail with iron-x and clay barring. They also won't let the car outside following drop off until pick up. The second cheaper option does a two bucket hand wash and a clay bar "if needed." While the 5800 is way too much for me I'm trying to get a second quote minus wrapping the trunk and roof. I'll update when I get the new quote. From what I understand prep is extremely important so make sure they do a good quality prep before handing your car over. Anything left on the paint gets sealed in following the install.

Did you purchase it online? If yes - where?

Curious...How long do you plan on keeping the car for?

I guess I'm not the only one who works nights. The new quote minus trunk and roof is $5199. I believe from the email I just received that it also includes a coating following the clear bra installation such as opticoat and their level one paint correction. It's an all inclusive package they offer. As for how long I plan to keep the vehicle, a long time. But then again I said that about my FJ Cruiser and I kept that for only 4.5 years before selling it. My main concern is that I live in an apartment complex and my wife's car is getting scratched to hell by kids and careless neighbors. At least if I decide to go with this installer I have a couple months to pull some OT and cover the costs better before my car is delivered.

Does anyone have any long-term experience with these protection films? Most seem to come with 5-year to 7-year warranties. Do they last that long? I would expect that, at some point, they need to be replaced. How easy are they to remove after being in place for 5 or more years?

What happens to the car's paint when some of it is covered with the film and some isn't? Does the color under the film age differently than the paint outside the film?

I know nothing about these and have a couple of questions because I'm thinking about my 2016 being done.

How long do these protections last?

Are they then easily replaced without damage to the paint?

Is there a premium product that stands out above the rest?

I'm looking specifically an installer that uses Xpel Ultimate, specifically because it has a long warranty (10 years) and is self healing. You can find examples on Youtube of the self healing properties, it's pretty cool. The nice thing about a clear bra is if it gets damaged you only have to replace that section. I've seen a couple examples of damage that would been really nasty on paint but were completely untouched because the clear bra absorbed the damage. They're designed to be peeled off when needing replaced. As for the paint they're designed so there should be no change in between sections covered vs uncovered in terms of fading/aging. The only downside is the cost, as they can be expensive especially when choosing a higher grade product and a good installer. As you saw above I was quoted $5800 to get the whole car covered. Most people seem to go for a front end only (bumper, hood, mirrors) to protect against rock chips but I'm hoping for more extensive coverage to help from scratches and rock chips from my rear wheels. From what I read a good compromise of protection would be wrap the front and then do a coating like opti-coat or ceramic pro 9h.
