Oh they skimped the V6 in the handling department. The V6 pushed like a dumb truck.I actually like that GM did not skimp on the V6 the way Ford did.
GM just chose a different strategy, emphasizing the V6 but offering the T4 as a base model with better economy.
Ford chose to skimp on the V6 (clearly planning to phase it out soon), and instead focus on the EB4.
As a fan of N/A engines, I prefer GM's strategy, but Ford's is clearly working (and you may be right that it makes more sense, because it drives most people not wanting a V8 into the more fuel efficient EB4, which help CAFE). GM may get most people going towards the V6, which might not help their economy numbers as much (or maybe the lower power turbo will still be popular, and will help the numbers even more).
In any case, it is nice to see GM showing a little agility in the design, and adding the T4 late in the game.
