The chrome plating on my passenger's side door handle has begun peeling. Crazy thing is I only have a passenger once a week, so the handle hardly gets used compared to the driver's side (which I think may begin peeling soon).

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to remedy this that won't look super jank or require pulling apart the entire door? (Don't think I trust myself to pull apart body panels lol) Or do I have to bite the bullet and take it to my dealer? I assume something like this wouldn't be covered? (2020 GT)

Would love to hear your thoughts/experiences with this.

There was recall or TSB for these on our Explorer and the dealer had to order in the parts and then swap them out. I think the same may hold true for the Mustang. Don't know if they make an exception outside the 3-year BTB warranty when it is a recall.

The chrome becomes so sharp that your passenger may cut their finger, so you may want to put some blue tape or clearing packing tape over the split to provide some temporary protection.

If it is not a recall situation, there have been some jobs I thought may be overwhelming, but after watching videos a two or three times, I've realized....hey, it is not so rocket science. Maybe this could apply for you with your dilemma as well.

Thanks for the ideas y'all! I called my local Ford service and it doesn't look like there are any open recalls at the moment for the Mustang and naturally my car is no longer under warranty 😅

So it looks like it's a bandaid for now until they get back with a quote of how much it would cost. Then I get to decide if I want to attempt to tackle it myself or just bite the bullet lol.
