Another noisy engine thread Gen2 GT (UK RHD if it matters)

so last year right before i was getting my timing chains / phasers / VCT's crank sprocket and tensioners changed to fix cam timing issues, I video'd the car with a somewhat noisy tickover and hoped the noise would go away. Always serviced with 5-20 oil grade


figured after the work was done i'd get 5-30 and see if that quietened it out. So works were done 6 months ago and oil was changed not long afterwards but about 3k miles max done on the 5-30 and this is the result and i have no idea why the sound quality is so much worse than above but i suppose it does highlight the er tapping ?





and finally with a mic shoved into the engine bay a bit back from the airbox, driving off a roundabout, starts about 20 seconds in and thats from low revs to er 6k or so. Again apologies for the crap sound recording

Jesus! That sounds terrible. Pull the valve covers and check everything top end. Sounds rocker related. Next guess would be a wrist pin.

it does sound terrible yeah. I did however realise i had taken another couple of videos this one is cold start at home and the phone does lower the input but it sounds 'normal'



then this one, same setup but 15 minutes hot start after driving to and filling up with fuel.



seems worse when engine is hot, is this an oil pressure related issue like a lifter not holding pressure ?

Yea, could be a blown lifter. Sounds lifter/rocker/valve-train related.
