Alright everyone I have another nGauge question to clutter up the place. I have an HP tuners nGauge that I had on an explorer. So it’s locked to that vin. Sold the car and kept the nGauge. I know Lund can’t unlock it. Haven’t heard back from PBD yet. I’ve seen a few posts where people claim to know of a guy that’ll unlock them for a fee. Who can put me in contact with that guy?

Just so you know, you won’t be able to get a lund tune with that Ngauge. That being said, PBD may or may not be able to unlock it. I know lund can unlock the lund racing Ngauge, but you might possibly have an expensive paperweight now.

Why wouldn't PDB just sends a new paid for tune minus the cost of the Ngauge?

The Ngauge has a proprietary code locking system that married to the vin. The reason lund can unlock it is because the code developed the tuner. If PBD sends a tune, the tuner will be unable to apply it onto the new car. It must be unlocked.

Thanks, I didn't know that as I have the tune. Maybe I missed the small print.

If you still happen to have the locked ngauge and are unable to unlock it and want to sell it, I may be interested in buying it to use for data logging purposes.

Just so I’m clear, you had a tune on the explorer and sold it. But didn’t provide the nGauge with the car? No offence, but if that’s the scenario, that’s dirty pool. Kind of a crappy move for the next owner... Karma...
If that’s not the case, carry on.

Hmmm… yeah I guess I really stuck it to that dealer when I returned to stock and sold them the explorer. “Oh you should have included that in the post!!” Nah… doesn’t apply to the topic at hand.
