On the same theme, I would like to find someone who could trim out my center console with leather or alcantara. I absolutely hate the plastic cheap look of that console. I put Carbon Fiber rubber on the dash and radio area that looks great but the console pieces peel up due to the angles and curves and look like crap. A nice leather wrap would look nice I think.

I agree with that ^^^ 100%.

Alcantara on steering wheels is high maintenance due to the oils in your hands, dirty hands and the constant pressure on the material (flattens fibers).

Don't get me wrong, it looks great - even on seats or headliners, but the steering wheel is just a high maintenance area for the material.

Probably explains why there's so many GT350 steering wheels that pop up for sale across the forum.

This is why I drive with gloves.

I would love to have some alcantera through the car. Im trying to find a local shop so i can get a sample piece of the burgundy. I bet it matches my royal crimson paint very well. I would like my seat inserts, shift and parking brake boots and trim the doors and knee pads with it. Maybe the headliner too.

IMHO Alcantara is NOT a good choice for steering wheels. Does not cope well with oil from hands.

It was also a really, really, really bad seat surface on 03/04 Terminators. Thoght long and hard whether to redo the seats in my last one with GT leather for that reason. On a steering wheel? OMG no!!

Than again, I'm still laffin at heated steering wheels. Leave one of these things out in the sun anywhere south of 30 degrees latitude, even in the winter, grab the wheel and call me back about a heated wheel.....

Yeah, but I have a double IR shield on my windshield so my wheel never gets hot

You may not have had Alcantara bunch up your trousers so bad you have to lift your hiney off the seat to pull em back down. Loved the cars, but the seats....not so much.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it on seats. Steering wheel is just the right amount.
