Does this kit void the factory warranty? I'm curious what the vendors have to say as well. Can anyone who works at a Ford dealer service chime in as well?

I'm familiar with closed type filter systems not voiding warranties but that open style (conical) CAI does. Example is what K&N has in which drop-in is good to go but not the open systems.

AIRAID is kinda in between IMHO as it is a closed system CAI hence the question.

Technically any aftermarket parts void the warranty. But there is something called the Magnussen Moss warranty act.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson%E2%80%93Moss_Warranty_Act

This act states many things including that the manufacturer must prove that your aftermarket part caused the defect in order to void your warranty.

One thing that is very important, you will have to take them to court and prove them wrong. Luckily your court costs would be covered if you win.

Finally, consumers may seek redress in the courts for alleged violations of the Magnuson–Moss Act. A consumer who has been injured by the noncompliance of a supplier may bring an action in federal court if the amount in controversy is over $50,000 or a class action if the number of class plaintiffs is greater than 100. If the jurisdictional amount, or number of plaintiffs, do not meet these thresholds, an action under the act may be brought only in state court.[10] Moreover, one of the key aids to the effectiveness of the Act is that a prevailing plaintiff may recover reasonable costs of suit, including attorney fees.[11]

Cold air intake won't void warranty unless you tune your car! If something goes wrong it will take you 20 minutes to swap back the original intake!

Yep quite familiar with that act...there are a few vendors that will not sell to me as it isn't CARB approved. I don't see anything official so they are probably over-cautious. There are more places that will sell them so getting the kit won't be an issue. Also like the idea of not messing with my stock tune; I will do that when I super-charge in a few short years.:ford:

they don't "void" a warranty, but a dealer can deny a covered repair if they feel what you changed caused the issue, some dealers are more pricks than others

find a mod friendly dealer

And don't forget that with tunes you can't just set it back to the factory parameters, it will display how many times the ECU has been flashed.
