Probably warped from engine bay heat. What do you mean by "says on top". It should be the plexi cover, then the metal thingy on top of the plexi cover, then bolt it all down.

Instructions say plexiglass on top. Wouldn’t the plexiglass heat up and be sucked inward over time from engine bay heat with no support

It will definitely warp with engine heat, but any install I've ever seen on that intake (mine including). The plexi has been beneath the metal cover.

I went to Lowes and bought a bit sturdier plexi that I cut into shape, drilled and used that in place. It holds up a bit better but its inevitable that it will happen.

You could also do like me...and say screw it and leave the cover off because it sounds badass when you floor it. Heat soak aside it goes away quick enough to not really be a bother. Cruising results are pretty much same if you're concerned about temperature.
