I can’t speak for everybody here but I get a K&N filter even before I pick up my car. Then after that if I go CAI or other so be it but that is the first thing I buy.
I've used K and N air filters for 20 years now in all my vehicles. IMO, I feel that they are better built, have a nice rubber frame and have more filter pleats than most filters. Yeah, you have to clean them, but it's only like every 50K or so miles, it takes a few minutes, but that's about it. Just don't over oil them. Also use their cabin air filters, I think they are of good quality also compared to the OEM one's that come with the car, and also their oil filters. I've never had a problem with any of them, and when taken in for service, the tech's notice them, and don't throw out the air and cabin filters. They usually tell me they like them too. Maybe that means something, I don't know, but I'm a K and N fan.
