I just have the base security package. Was wondering what everyone recommends for aftermarket alarms? It seems like the Viper model is really popular. I like the fact that you can control it with your phone, too.

Are these difficult to self-install?

Another really dumb question...If the alarm goes off, how long will it continue to go off? Like, if I'm away and don't see the notification on my phone, is it going to go off indefinitely?

Honestly I wouldn't worry about an alarm with these cars. It would take away the functionality of the keyless entry and start. They are more made for cars from the 00s and earlier in my opinion. Back in the days when 'security systems' were a check box on the order sheet.

As someone who installed systems in the early 2000s they are not bad to install but not fun either. The sirens are set to turn off after 30 seconds due to city ordinances.

Are you wanting to add an active alarm? Another option you could go with for a easy plug and play option is the Ford Permitier Plus system. It's a ford accessory, and has a dual zone shock sensor. On a light impact the horn will chirp once, in a heavy impact (glass breakage) the full alarm will activate. I bought it because it also has an extended range remote start. It literally plugs into the OBD II port and then there's an LED and an Antenna if you wanted the extended remote start. I picked mine up for $240 because I wanted the bi directional remote but I believe they start at $180. You can upgrade it for the cellular service too and use an app to lock, unlock, etc.
