Is this meant more for drag racing? What are the benefits other than wheel fitment?

Yes, and probably lighter weight too. Here is the product description:

The AED rear IRS Knuckle is a replacement knuckle to allow a wider wheel and still maintain the factory suspension geometry. Re-Uses mainly stock components including factory wheel, hub, brake caliper, brake line, sway bar, toe link, lower control arm etc...

To build such an integral suspension piece, we start from an 82lb chunk of billet aluminum and machine it down to about 6lbs. This weight to strength ratio will support anything from stock horsepower to 1000+ with the security of knowing you have a premium component that will not fail at the track. Aurora Race Series 12T and 10T bearings are used for exceptional load capacity for the toe and main unit. Machined helicals for the caliper mounts while Timken steel spacers allow use of the stock caliper.
A lot more to it than just swapping the knuckle, but it seems like this is for the hardcore drag guys that have drag brake kits and also do everything they can to win their brackets.

What else is needed to run these? The way you are describing them, you just throw these on and run 15's and I find that hard to believe.

Brake Mounting Info
- Fits Stock S550 Caliper but must use a S197 Brake Rotor (purchased separately)
- Machining is required to fit the Rotor to the Hub, easy with die grinder.
- Dual Mounting location fits stock S550 Caliper or aftermarket calipers with 5-1/4" spacing like Baer, Lamb, Aerospace, Wilwood etc..
- Center of Spindle to Top Caliper Bolt Hole is 4.552" or 115.5mm
- Hat Depth Hub to Caliper is 2-13/16" or 71.5mm

Installation Notes
- Modifications to sway bar end link bolts, factory toe link and lower control arms are required for proper wheel clearance
- We suggest an alignment when complete to make sure everything is lined up correctly

ask and ye shall receive. backspace is 15x8.75, but we needed a small spacer, as they shorted me on the back pad a little bit, so about 8.5 on my car, new wheels would be 8.75 if your ordering

and, the beautiful thing is, i'm running a +.2 camber, vs the 15x9 setups where you have to run a -1 to -1.5 to get the wheel to not hit, so on launch, all the tire plants
