Hey guys,

Does anyone know if there has to be an adjustment with the bump stops after lowering the car? Getting a thump in the rear under hard accel while existing a corner (had a post before, but wanted to revisit).

I've had Kauffman Tire reseat the springs, but no change.

I appreciate any help!

How low are you? I have shorter bumpstops installed on mine. They came with my Sportlines. If more than a inch lower you definitely should cut the stock bumpstops if your springs didn't come with new ones.

I have the Steeda Progressives...so an inch or a little over an inch lower. The issue that I foresee cutting the bump stops is potential for tire rubbing.

How easy is it to cut the bump stops? I wonder if Steeda makes new bump stops.

The Ford Racing Bump stops are just the factory ones cut down. Save your money and either cut the ones you have or buy replacements for half the cost and cut those.

This for sure. I wasted my money on the ford ones after some vendors saying they were softer than stock. I'll tell you they are not softer than what came on my non PP car. I did some compression tests with my hand and foot. They were identical as I could feel. Had I known, I would have just cut mine. They part numbers are only separated by an A and B. I'm sure the B means " cut down stockers for the the suckers"

I going to have a shop install Steeda progressive springs along with subframe bushings to prevent wheel hop and also the alignment kit to bolt the subframe back up correctly.

I am going to have to do anything with the bumper stops or is it not necessary on every car depending?

Thanks
Terry

From what's I've read, it's best to cut them down a bit. Some people have had issues bottoming out on the stock ones which makes the ride worse. Some people have confused the harsh ride with being the springs when they are actually tapping the bump stops. Again, this is what I've found in my research so take that for what it's worth I guess. I figure there is really no harm in cutting them down and never hitting them compared to leaving them stock and hitting them and being pissed that I have to take it all apart again. You can cut them while they are installed by taking off the wheel but again, I don't see any harm in doing it ahead of time. They are simply there to keep you from bottoming out the suspension.

Does anyone have any pictures where the bump stops are located, and also some pictures on exactly where to cut them? If not, all good...I can do some research.

The bump stops are of the shaft of the shock/strut. Here are the trim dimensions:

I agree. OP cut your factory bumpstops down about 1/2-3/4" (tire size can matter here)

I have 18" tires, the springs are going to lower the front 1.25" and the backs 1"

So cut the front bumper stops down 3/8" and the rears 5/8"?, where are these figures coming from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Terry
