So I really want a little more volume out of my exhaust setup. I currently have Magnaflow Magnapacks with 4" tips. They do drone pretty bad under load in 6th. I'm just curious who has added an x to a magnaflow axleback, and how did it affect the drone? I noticed that Dynomax had a rebate on their VT line of muffler, which is supposed to have no drone and outflows the Magnaflow. If it is too bad after the x I may go to them. I DD the car so I get tired of the drone and the rattles it causes pretty quick, but I want more volume.

adding x or h pipe will most likely make it drone worse then it already does. get rid of it and get something else.

I have considered changing mufflers, but I want more volume and was just curious if anyone has added an x and what it did. Increasing the "loudness" of the exhaust will not affect drone, but I expect it to change "where" the drone occurs.

I expected the drone when I put the Magnaflow on, that's why I bought tips, mufflers, hangers, and installed myself. For less than $175 I have a Magnaflow Axleback, I couldn't imagine paying $700+ for a exhaust that drones.(or one that doesn't for that matter) When I add my Magnaflow X pipe I'll be up to $220, which is about the cost of a stainless resonator delete vs my complete "cat back exhaust".

what exhaust over 700 drones? MBRP race does, but it also has an awesome tone. (its 650.00) You get what you pay for.

Magnaflow Race, which is essentially what I "made" with the mufflers I chose drones and catback costs well north of $1000. I consider Magnaflow and Borla the same quality, so the get what you pay for is not valid. I have been in a few different Borla setups and they all have drone. The terrain where I live is what causes the problem. You drive a lot in 6th gear at 1500-2000 rpm under heavy load. When I leave the mountains my car is fine, it does great on the highway and city driving.

Not to sound like an ass, but some people (my brother) being one of them don't realize or know what drone is. They just think it's exhaust noise

I have Magnaflow axlebacks with Ford Racing X-Pipe resonator delete. I had zero drone when it was just the axlebacks, and still no drone after the X-Pipe. It's been 6 months since install.

Do you have the streets or the competitions? Cause I have the comps with an x-pipe resonator delete and it droned like crazy

Did you do the axleback and resonator delete at the same time? If you did the axleback first how did the x affect the drone?

I figure it will change it, guess if it's too bad I'll either go to the Dynomax VT or the larger Magnaflow clones. Thanks for the info.

Pics man, pics! I have the MF Street and get the drone under heavy load. I've got a MIG welder and can do the J pipe thing in the driveway.
