Quick background, I purchased a 2018 GT350R and I have started cleaning and correcting some mods that I don’t find tasteful. Today I started by pulling the wheels and cleaning the calipers and rotor hats. Next I went to the exhaust. The previous user had installed what i believe to be the grimmspeed dummy plugs on the valve Wiring. I pulled those and plugged the jumpers back in. Upon start up, one valve actuated(closed) and the other seems to have not moved. This gave me the mode not available error. I unplugged the battery and unplugged and replugged the jumper to the valves and reconnected the battery. I checked the fuse as well. No joy…. Any suggestions on how to correct the issue before I take it to the dealer?
I also swapped my carbon hood onto the car….

Not sure if the 350 has the same common issue like the S550 or Mach 1……the passenger side plug harness is known for rubbing on the rear metal structure. See if that wiring harness has damage.

Have you tried lubing the valve and using something to try and move it? May be stuck from not cycling due to the grimspeed set up.

Check the wiring harness and try spraying the valve with a little silicon spray.

Also if you’re able, have someone sit in the car and try to change exhaust modes while you look into the exhaust tip (obviously at a safe distance so as not to breath in the carbon monoxide). If the valve doesn’t even flutter, it’s likely not getting any power which would indicate to me a possible wire harness issue. If it looks like it’s trying to move but is stuck, trying lubing the valve. It’s also possible the actuator is damaged or if the prior owner took it out and put it back in, they didn’t seat it properly. That will also throw the code if the actuator is not seated properly.

Buy a new actuator if the wiring harness is fine. I seem to recall I removed and installed a new one without removing anything on the car. An 8mm open ended wrench to remove the 3 nuts and you have to push down on the actuator to over come the spring pressure when you torque the 3 nuts. FR3Z-5K245-A The actuator cost about $150.

Well, I did everything mentioned here. No joy. I dropped the exhaust and pulled the actuators. The valves turned freely. I ended up putting the grimmspeed plugs back on and putting it back up. I can select driving modes again. Well everything except drag that is. That isn’t a big deal for me but this will bother my OCD. I am going to take it to the dealer soon and see if I can get the exhaust dampers warrantied. I have a pretty good relationship with them, I will ask them if I could get the valve issue looked at without upsetting the warranty.
