you want proper service? Pay for it with a premium brand( and yes I know all the caveats but going off personal experience) You want a mustang? suck it up. It's the car you want, not the dealership.
What Mercedes for example? They are crap as well.
You should expect basic customer service with whatever you buy.

I would never buy another merc. After the last one I had. Dealer was worse

The dealer I went to today is owned by Ford
So makes it even worse.

Take it from myself who's been through the 'premium' brands, and when I say premium, i'm talking a Rari, it was a few years back (430), there was a 6month lead time on the car (not bad), we also got 0 notifications about the car. I know now that the servicing is much better as a friend owns a 458 and claims (Same dealership and we believe same dealer - Daniel), that he's been updated every time the car has had something change with it, he then picked it up and they'd done everything for it.

I don't think it's down to ford or not, I think it's down to the dealer specifically, some want to sell cars, others want to make commission and do as little as possible, as they've already 'secured' the deal.

I can give you countless horror stories with audi (r8, RS4, A1), Mercedes (Kompressor (dont ask)), and BMW (1 series) for each of these, and no, they're not all 'me' but they're all people I know who've absolutley slated the brands for how they've been dealt with, these cars are all higher value than a mustang and brand more premium than 'that blue oval' - ford.

Doesn't matter where you go, some dealers just don't give a sh1t.

The best customer service (we, i'm talking family/friends) have had, are the following:
My Corsa, brilliant dealer, did everything for us - Lookers Ford, Sheffield (Used car, 4 week process, week 1 deposit to secure, week 2 test drive, week 3, agree deal, week 4 pickup)
A ford dealership near wembley - My mothers Ford Fiesta, Got it as a pre-reg low mileage dirt cheap, did everything over the phone and bought the car the next day
Kia Dealership Burton - Kia Ice, Picked up same day we saw the car
Lamborghini/Bentley, Birmingham/Fort Dunlop - Best service by a landslide, talk about babysat the whole way, not at one point were we ever asked to go for something different, infact the salesman took a 'hit' telling us we didn't need certain things as it wouldn't look right - glad we took his advice (Wont disclose the car :p)

Anyway, tl;dr, it's dealer, not dealership. Some dealerships try harder to improve etc.

Ford should be backing mustang as it's premium car brand, they seem to give more fks about the Vignale, which, idk about the whole sales of it, but I doubt it's as bad as the mustang has been,

I should also caveat my comments by saying that I don't have a long "premium" history. I do however have a very long Ford history. All company cars, and my company at one time had a exclusively Ford fleet (>2000 cars). Over the years I have had 2 escorts, a Sierra and 4 mondeos, all of which I have put over 100k miles on. Without exception, they have been bombproof cars, particularly the Sierra, which I was given when it had done 80k and which I tried to break for two years without success. without exception the dealers have been rubbish. This goes back years. That's why I'm very cynical about a small group of enthusiasts changing the status quo. Would love it to be different, and I will be the first to congratulate Ford UK if it happens but I'm not holding my breath.

Do all Ford dealers not give courtesy cars!? Not ideal!
Gordons Ford in Bolton (sadly no more) loaned us a car for a month when delivery on the wife's Kuga was delayed (so we could p/x her BMW before the end of the finance period, even without the new car turning up).

Plus they gave her a bunch of flowers when it eventually turned up. And a Teddy Bear. I kid you not. They were great to deal with though...

Must admit Sierras seemed to be bulletproof as I managed to put 210k on one, best Ford I had was a Scorpio Cosworth, loved that car, fingers crossed the Mustang is even better

Lol, it's two friends, i've got another who drives a porsche then a whole heap who drive 'First car' style cars, Corsas, Yaris' etc. Quite lucky to have a decent group of friends who share the petrol head life - However, just rich parents really, none of them bought their cars themselves... one claims his Gallardo is 'his' because 'he paid the insurance'... don't even ask, he's a bit

I never got a courtesy car in years of Merc dealer services. Every time with Ford.

Just got mine back today after 3 weeks in for bumper respray. Although Ford only pay for the bit of paint that's damaged apparently, so the garage just did a 'blend in'. Took two goes as first time the boot was on wonky.

Haven't even looked at the paint job properly - will have a look in morning in the light. They've put a few scratches on the rear panels, but hopefully my detailer can sort out when he re-does (ceramic coat) the bumper. Still waiting to hear if Ford will agree to pay for this.

Had a little Fiesta loaner. It's a massive dealership (3 brands), but 'aftersales' are a separate department to new car sales. They did ask sales if I could use one of their demo cars but got a flat no. I'm a lowly aftersales customer now!

I've just got to a stage where if a trip to a main dealer (any manufacturer) doesn't result in body panel being being caved-in, or having my steering wheel stolen and being told "it came in like that", I count it as a win. Everyone was pleasant at the Ford dealership in any case.

My car went back into stealer today,
After a few phone calls to ford rental, ( couldn't get me a ford). So ended up with a BMW 320d.
Hire car was supposed to be at dealer at 1030. After 2 calls to Thrifty, it finally turned up at 1130.
