To clarify my issue – it only occurs in 10th gear below 50 miles an hour. Essentially when you try to accelerate in those conditions it feels like the torque converter does not want to unlock and it will judder. I have to step on it pretty hard to get it to downshift. I had my PCM updated and it did help but it’s not completely gone.

The 10speed lockup pretty quickly
40mph were the old 4speed auto
" the torque converter is only really called upon at launch, according to Car and Driver. Otherwise, the driveshaft and transmission are locked, improving efficiency."
That is we can shift so fast.
Issue is that the lockup clutch is build in the surface of the converter. Meaning you cannot replace it or improve it. That is why you need a new converter

I’ve learned that mine does it just on the 6-7 and 7-8 shift. I believe I have clutch plates that are no longer flat and cause vibration when they are partially engaged. It does it on those two shifts because it slips during oncoming and then slips during offgoing.
