So a little help needed. Went to a dealership today that ‘s an hour and a half from my house to look at a mustang with exactly every option I want including color. Long story short they have been sitting on the car for over three months so I thought they would deal. To try and make it simple I can order the same car for $600 less than what the other dealer (the one with the car) was willing to sell it to me for. When I showed the dealer that documentation they still did not want to budge off of their price. And I certainly wasn't asking them for anything unreasonable.

What it boils down to for me is that the salesman who I worked with all week was absolutely tremendous but the dealership (management) was certainly not. And the $600 certainly would not break the bank and the dealership certainly does not owe me anything but wouldn’t you think the dealer trying to sell the car would at least split the different of the $600 (which they were not willing to do) to gain a customer and get a car off of their lot that’s been sitting there over three months?

One side of me wants to give the sale to the guy who has been so helpful but on the other hand It really bothered me that the dealership would not give in. Of course, I could save the $600 and order one and wait the 8 -12 weeks or so as long as there are no constraints yet which I don't believe there is.

Am I over thinking this? Also, I tried to use my $750.00 private cash which is expired by a month or two and they wouldn’t even try to contact anyone. (Conflicting reports on this one of some members getting it and some not on expired coupons.)

Any helpful thoughts would be most welcomed. Trying to decide what to do. The one I saw today was absolutely beautiful but a factory order would come the same way. And I certainly don't need it right away but the one sitting on the lot is mine if I want it....just for $600 more.....lol.

Thanks!!

1) Ford may have issued another $750 for you - have your salesman check it in Ford's Vincent system. Others haven't been using "expired" 750s, theyve just been issued additional ones that they hadn't yet received the certificate for, so they are under the assumption that they're using expired ones when, in fact, Ford had just issued them another one and they didn't know it (but the dealer did).

2) It looks to me like just a $600 decision, do you want to drive it today or do you want to drive it in April? Driving it today will cost you $600 more. Don't let feelings of frustration with the management drive your decision, they're businesspeople and it's their job to make money. Just think if driving the car 3 months earlier is worth $600 or not.

I'm guess this dealer is the only one with the exact build/features you want from the car? I would build that car online and send to all the dealers in your area to give you a call. Negotiate the prices on the phone so you can pitch one quote against another.

I would suggest getting few more quotes since this dealer gave you their best offer but we all know this dealer will keep calling you everyday.
